The third and final day of the PIMUN 2020 was the continuation of first and second day, where participants were distributed into their pre-assigned committees.

At the closing ceremony we had the honor of having Mrs. Fawzia Koofi - member of the Afghan Negotiation Team in Doha, Ms. Naheed Sarabi - member of International Commission on inclusive Peace and Mr. Reid Sirrs - Ambassador of Canada to Afghanistan speak with the participants.

At the final day, all the committees worked on the working papers and draft resolutions. UN Committees simulated at PIMUN 2020 were.
1) UN Security Council
2) UN Peace Building Commission
3) UN High Commissioner for Refugees
4) World Health Organization
5) Economic and Social Council
6) International Press Forum

Parallel to these committees we also had simulated the UN General Assembly and UN Population Fund (UNFPA) virtually.

During the sessions we have a session with Ambassador Khaled Zekriya - Amassador designate of Afghanistan to Rome, who has served for eighteen years at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He spoke about his experience of being a diplomat and how the UN functions.

Organizers, DAIS members and participants of the conference wore their traditional clothes and celebrated the culture diversity of Afghanistan. We at Youth Thinkers' Society believe that our differences are what makes Afghanistan complete thus we asked each delegate to represent the province they are from.

Youth Thinkers' Society organized the fifth edition of its flagship event, the Pamir International Model United Nations from 24th to 26th December 2020. The opening ceremony of the conference saw the presence of Mr. Amrullah Saleh - First Vice President of Afghanistan, Mr. Sediqullah Fahim - Deputy of National Security Council and Ms. Nazira Rahman - Deputy Minister of Women Affairs among many other guests.

Pamir International Model United Nations (PIMUN) is a 3-day educational conference organized annually by the Youth Thinkers Society. It is a platform providing the students with opportunities to share their thoughts, ideas, and perspectives in a diplomatic manner. Moreover, it sets out the objectives to help youth enhance their skills of debate, diplomacy, and decision making.

This is the fifth edition in its series since it first happened in 2016. During this challenging time and amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s PIMUN conference has been unique in several ways: firstly, it had engaged more than one thousand students from fifteen provinces of Afghanistan in past 12 months from across Afghanistan along with international participants from Kazakhstan (in collaboration with New Silkway MUN); Secondly, it has compiled a group of strong delegates that reflected the diversity of age, gender, geography, and expertise; Finally, it has been able to work on and pass tangible and feasible resolutions on the most pressing issues that are currently being dealt with in Afghanistan and around the world.
