Alumni Deanthe somaiah “I am Deanthe Somaiah, born and raised in Dubai.
At 13 years old, I made a decision that would completely change the course of my life.
Instead of following the conventional path, I chose homeschooling so I could pursue what I already knew I loved fashion.
That decision opened a door I never expected.
At just 13, I was given the opportunity to study ESMOD DUBAI , learning alongside adults, pushing myself beyond my age, and stepping into a world I had only dreamed of being part of.
Three years later, at 16, I graduated with distinction with my Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design.
My graduate collection, TOTEM, inspired by astrology, went on to receive both the Jury Award and the Textile Award.
But when I look back, I know this journey was about more than fashion.
It was about growing up in a city that never made me feel like my age had to limit my ambition.
Dubai gave me the opportunities, the confidence, and the platform to dream bigger — and then gave me the space to turn those dreams into something real.
So this reel isn’t only a look back at how far I’ve come.
It’s a thank you to the city that helped shape who I am today.
And I hope my story reminds every young person watching that you don’t have to wait until you’re older to start becoming who you want to be.
Your age does not define your potential.
Your courage to begin does.
Thank you, Dubai, for believing in dreamers like me.

Esmod Dubaï 2026 Graduate“Le Duel” explores the tension between animal instinct and discipline through a collection where feline-inspired curves meet the precision of fencing and military references. Muscular silhouettes, sharp tailoring, fluid movement, pleating, and rope details create a visual language of restraint and release. Sculptural forms and handcrafted techniques bring each look to life, presenting femininity as something that is both controlled and untamed, balancing strength with instinct in every silhouette.

Exploring a visual manifestation of neurochemistry, Dubai-based designer Shahzoda Azamova reimagines brain chemicals as biological “mutants” for a university collection at Esmod Dubai. The project investigates how the human anatomy might physically warp, adapt, and restructure if a single emotion were to dictate biological evolution, resulting in striking structural silhouettes, including a standout fur coat engineered to release smoke on the runway.

📢 Call for applications – Cité internationale des arts x Institut français
The Institut français in the UAE, in collaboration with the Cité internationale des arts is pleased to launch the call for applications for its new edition of the Artist Residency Program.
🗓 Applications open: July 28 – September 20, 2026 (11:59 p.m. UAE time)
📍Residency location: Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris, France
📅 Residency period: Any 3-month stay between April 2027 and April 2028
The residency is open to artists of all nationalities who have been living outside France for a minimum of five years and wish to pursue a creative or research project in Paris.
Eligible fields include: Visual arts, Performing arts, Music, Design, Literature, Architecture, Urban planning, Gastronomy, Fashion, Photography, Theatre, Cinema, Digital creation, Gaming, Audiovisual, and related disciplines.
Selected artists will receive:
✔ A monthly grant of €1,000 for their stay
✔ One round-trip economy airfare
✔ Accommodation and studio space at the Cité Internationale des Arts
Application files (in English only) must include:
• CV (maximum 2 pages)
• Portfolio (maximum 12 pages)
• Project proposal (maximum 2 pages)
• Letter of endorsement
• Signed declaration of authorship
