𝐀𝐥𝐮𝗺𝐧𝐢 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞

Dr. Ahmed Zaki - our Class of 2010 graduate.
After graduating from UAS, Ahmed moved to Canada to study Nanotechnology Engineering at the University of Waterloo. A year later, he decided to transfer to Biomedical Sciences, knowing that he wanted to be a doctor

Ahmed graduated from the University of Waterloo in June of 2014 with Honors Degree in Biomedical Sciences and Minor in Biology. In September of 2014 he started medical school.
Ahmed graduated and earned his Medical Degree from the University of Toronto in 2018.

Today Ahmed is practicing Internal Medicine at the Western University Hospital in London, Ontario, Canada.

We are so proud of our Alumni doctor working on the front line during this pandemic and we thank him along with all health workers for everything they do.

Ahmed’s advice to UAS students;

“Teaching is the profession that teaches all the other professions.” Treat your teachers (and pretty much everyone you meet) with respect. You may disagree with what people have to say, but that’s what makes life interesting.

Today is World Social Media Day which is observed annually on June 30th. In its short life, social media has redefined how people interact, communicate and share with family, friends and the world.

Today we want to honour our one and only Social Media Coordinator for all his hard work and dedication to UAS for the last 14 years.

Joseph joined UAS in 2006 as an Office Assistant. This gave him the opportunity to work with everyone in the school from Admin, teachers, parents and students. Joseph’s amazing work ethic, positive attitude, sense of humour and friendly manner is admired by all.

Joseph is always ready to help, he’s creative and loves to learn new things. Andy Torris (Former School Director) saw his potential and created a new position at UAS which was to focus on a consistent social media presence and strategy.

Joseph is the glue that holds UAS’s past and present together and connects us all everyday.
His passion for his work and great relationship with staff, alumni, parents and students is clear when we look at UAS’s social media.

Joseph is the brains behind the hit series we all follow; Alumni Feature, Faces of UAS, Parent Testimonial and Students in Action series. He’s published several articles in local news outlets too!

Thank you Joseph for facilitating discussions, sharing ideas and creating a sense of community in both our real world and digital platform.

𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲
Tala Samman – Our class of 2008. After graduating from UAS, Tala pursued her love of fashion and moved to London to study Fashion Media at London College of Fashion. She continued her studies at University of the Arts, London and earned her degree in Fashion Media and Communications. After this, she studied for a postgrad in Entrepreneurship.

Tala is the Founder of My Fash Diary the first blogs to come out of the UAE. She’s been in many fashion magazines, travelled the world, met some of the biggest stars and most successful social media influencers. Today Tala is a popular DJ and recently opened for Lana Del Rey and Dua Lipa and she is only just getting started!

Tala’s advice to UAS students: Enjoy every moment of High School these will be some of the best time of your life.

𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞
Zeid Jaouni - Our class of 2018 graduate. After graduating from UAS, Zeid was lucky enough to get a summer job as an Intern at GQ Middle East as stylist/fashion Editor assistant. This experience gave him valuable insight into what goes into the preparation of a fashion shoot and the building of a magazine.

Today, Zeid is pursuing his post-secondary education at Parsons the New School for Design in New York City and is majoring in Communication Design. Besides studying, he models for luxury brands, he recently modelled for Bloomingdales and GQ Middle East magazine.

Zeid’s advice to UAS students: Always try to put yourself out there and learn new things. Never pass up on an opportunity, big or small. Every experience has value and can lead you somewhere you never thought you’d be.

𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞

Farah El Yacoubi – Our class of 2011 Valedictorian graduate.

After graduating from UAS, Farah pursued a law degree at SOAS University of London. Farah then went on to complete her legal training and became a qualified lawyer. Today, Farah lives in Paris where she works as a lawyer with an international law firm. She previously worked with the same firm in London and Dubai. She mainly focuses on international energy and infrastructure projects, and in particular, renewable energy projects.

Her career is only part of who she is, she loves living in Paris, travelling, practicing yoga and is passionate about music.

Farah’s advice to UAS students: Be curious and open-minded. Growing up in Dubai and being in an international school like UAS is amazing for that and exposes you to many identities and opinions. Take in as much as you can from the diversity and opportunities that you are surrounded by!

𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞

Aya Sadek - Our class of 2014 Graduate. After graduating from UAS, Aya pursued her post secondary education at the American University of Sharjah where she earned her bachelor's degree in Mass Communication. From there, she went on to pursue her master's degree at American University in Washington, D.C., where she earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Public Affairs.

After completing her masters program, Aya interned for Voice of America (VOA), an international news and broadcast organization, where she got to work with and produce news shows for famous American commentator, lawyer and news anchor Greta Van Susteren. During her time at VOA, Aya was also presented with the opportunity to tour the White House.

Today, Aya lives in Washington, D.C., where she works for RT America, a global multilingual television news network. There, she gets the opportunity to assist with production for news shows like Politicking with Larry King, The News with Rick Sanchez and Watching the Hawks with Tyrel Ventura.

Aya’s advice to UAS students: "The greatest thing the world has to offer is education. Pursue it relentlessly. Be curious. And, don’t be afraid to ask questions and always push the limits." - 𝐀𝐲𝐚 𝐒𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐤

𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐀𝐒

Melania "Lanie” Labrador is a part of our amazing Support staff. Ms Lanie is from Albay Camarines Sur Philippines, she’s been at UAS for 13 years. She is very kind, helpful and always has a smile on her face. She loves everyone especially our students. She's a big fan of healthy food, exercise, listening to music, watching TV and hanging out with her friends on the weekend!

"UAS is my second home.” - 𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 "𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞” 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐫

𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞! Jean Hajjar – Our class of 2008 graduate. After graduating from UAS, Jean pursued his post secondary education at the American University of Beirut where he earned his Bachelor Degrees in Petroleum Sciences.

Jean was one of the top varsity basketball, track & field and volleyball players who took home the very first ISAC trophy against Egypt, Kuwait and Qatar. Bit of trivia! - he’s one of the group of students who designed the Scorpion logo that we scream proudly today!

Jean decided to follow his passion for music and is currently the Programing Manager at Brag Events where he is primarily responsible for organizing the biggest concerts, festivals, sporting events and a lot more in the Middle East Region.

Jean’s advice to UAS students: Follow your heart, enjoy the present, live your life and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Go Scorpions!!!
