Maths isn’t just about getting answers - it’s about noticing patterns, asking questions, and saying, “Hang on… that’s interesting!” 👀✨

2025 is packed with beautiful number connections like these.
When children learn to spot them, they unlock the deeper side of mathematics - the side that builds confidence and real understanding.

💬 Chat to your child:
“What do you notice? What do you wonder?”
“What might 3036 or 4096 have in common?”
“Why might these patterns happen?”

👇 Comment below:
What patterns do you or your child notice?
And follow for more maths curiosity moments!

Maths isn’t just numbers — it’s moments of pride.

Before Monday rolls in, ask your child:
👉 “What maths moment made you smile this week?”
You’ll be amazed by their answers.

Parents — share one proud maths moment from your week!

Challenge your child with it over breakfast!
Write your answers in the comments and tag someone who’ll take longer than your child to get it.

💡 Growth mindset isn’t just for children - the way we talk about maths influences them too. Try these swaps at home and notice the difference!

When children make a mistake, it’s not a setback - it’s data.
Ask: “What made you think that?” rather than “What went wrong?”
This simple shift turns anxiety into curiosity.

As educators and parents, we often feel the urge to provide answers - to reassure, to correct, to keep learning ‘on track’. But Einstein’s words remind us that questioning is the track. Every “Why?” and “What if?” is a sign that a child’s mind is alive and reaching beyond what’s comfortable.

In maths, curiosity might sound like “I wonder what happens if I…” or “Could there be another way?” It’s the spark that turns a worksheet into an experiment.

If we can resist the instinct to rush in with answers and instead nurture the questions - even when they lead down messy or uncertain paths - we show children that curiosity is not just allowed, but celebrated. That’s how critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and innovators grow.

So this week, when a child asks you a question you know the answer to, try asking one back.
You might be surprised by where their curiosity takes you both.

Help your child truly understand subtraction — not just follow steps!

Here’s how to teach the written method of subtraction using place value counters, so they know why we exchange, not just how.

When children grasp the reasoning behind each step, they make fewer mistakes and can tackle a wider range of problems with confidence.

👨‍🏫 Watch to see how place value brings subtraction to life!
