The official eligibility criteria for the Algerian Government Scholarship for the 2026/2027 academic year have been released.

Eligible South Sudanese applicants are encouraged to obtain the official application forms, carefully review the requirements, prepare all necessary documents, and submit their applications within the stipulated period.

University of Juba and the People’s Republic of China Embassy in Juba had a Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award Ceremony

Friday, 14th August, 2026, the University of Juba and the People’s Republic of China Embassy in Juba held the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship Award Ceremony for 36 Students from various schools, under the theme “Investing in Education, Inspiring Futures, and Strengthening China-South Sudan Relations,” in Senate Hall, Main Campus.

Ms. Lilian Kerlili, the representative of the recipients, expressed appreciation to the Ambassador and the University of Juba administration, emphasizing that an investment in students is never wasted. She highlighted the importance of supporting young people today to build a better future tomorrow.

Prof. John Apuruot Akec, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba, expressed appreciation for the generosity and support of the People's Republic of China. Prof. John Akec noted that it is encouraging to see a generation of students benefiting from such opportunities and emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the Embassy and the University.

H.E MA Qiang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to South Sudan, highlighted the Embassy’s commitment to sponsoring university students, noting that the University of Juba is the first university to benefit from this cooperation. He also highlighted the various activities carried out by the Chinese Embassy in partnership with the University of Juba, as well as China’s achievements in education, innovation, infrastructure, and development.

The University of Juba dean recovers stolen vehicle.

A vehicle belonging to Dr. Abraham Kuol Nyuon, Principal of the Graduate College at the University of Juba, recovered a day after it was stolen from the university’s main campus in Juba.

Dr. Kuol confirmed the recovery in a social media post on Wednesday, writing, “Glory be to God. My vehicle has been recovered.” The announcement came less than 24 hours after news of the theft prompted police to launch an investigation.

First-year examinations commence at University of Juba this morning.

The University of Juba has officially commenced first-semester examinations for first-year students, marking the beginning of the institution's assessment period for the academic year.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that a number of students from oil-producing areas who are sponsored by the Greater Pioneer Operating Company (GPOC) were unable to sit for the examinations after allegedly being barred due to outstanding tuition arrears reportedly unpaid by the sponsoring company.

University of Juba Graduate Turns to Agriculture, Eyes Productive Maize Harvest

University of Juba graduate Adhar Chol has ventured into agriculture in his home village, establishing a maize farm in the Abuk-Deng area of Turalei, in Twic County as he pursues a productive harvest.

Chol said he is optimistic about the growing season, expressing hope that his investment in farming will contribute to food production and encourage other young people to embrace agriculture as a sustainable source of livelihood.

His decision to pursue farming reflects the role young people can play in agriculture, with the sector offering opportunities to support local food production and rural livelihoods.
