A fully-certified Pilates instructor and educator, women's health advocate, and core expert, I am the founder of the Core Connect Method. Over the past 4 years, I have become one of the leading prenatal and postnatal specialists in the UAE, teaching over 400 pregnant and postpartum women, and developing a signature diastasis recti repair programme. I have 5 years experience in teaching group, private and clinical classes in studios and clinics, and 2 years experience supporting instructors in their quest to better understand what the core is, how it relates to the rest of the body, both fascia wise and neurologically. I have recently become interested in trauma processing through movement, and assist women with their birth trauma recovery.

Instability isn’t the enemy.
It’s information.
On the Chair, I love using the sliders to ask the body a question strength alone can’t answer.
Not « how strong are you? »
But « how fast do you organise? »
Which postural muscles are late to the party?
Which reflexes should be firing... and aren’t?
Can you actually connect with your posterior chain, or are you compensating somewhere else without knowing it?
Sliders remove the certainty. And that’s the point.
None of these are separate skills.
They’re one system, asking to be understood.
Good core work was never about isolating a muscle.
It’s about knowing which one is missing from the conversation.
See you all in Chair Class next Tuesday ✨

You’d think an anchor would make it easier.
But it doesn’t.
The anchor - after all- is not you.
Yet in mat Pilates, as in life, inner strength is the real flex.
On the mat, we strip away the illusion of support that the Reformer gives us.
We are shown where we’re truly at.
Our asymmetries.
Instabilities.
Our drive, too.
We have no other option but to rebuild strength.
Or gather it from the depths of our centre, rather.
Here it’s the Bala Beam, pretending to anchor you when really, it just reveals what you may be lacking in strength.
A healthy mirror.
Like a great friend in life.
Their being sturdy may provide some solace.
Some reflection, too.
But ultimately, only YOUR inner power can lift you back up.
Have fun with these.
I sure did ❤️
Matwork with Asteera - every Tuesday at 8am
Matwork with Marianne I Pilates & Health - every Sunday at 11am
And maybe tag the few instructor friends who you consider to be your Bala Beams 😂

How many did you get right? 👀
If you listen to … well… too many people on this platform, Prenatal Reformer is full of rules:
“No supine work.”
“No planks.”
“Use a wedge.”
“Train the pelvic floor with Kegels.”
Except… prenatal education is not a trimester checklist!
Great prenatal teaching means understanding how physiology and anatomy are transformed, what you are trying to achieve (and no, that’s not just a fit body during pregnancy), what the individual in front of you needs, and WHY you are creating an entirely new repertoire!
That’s exactly what I want instructors to be able to navigate with confidence.
Because safe AND effective should be fundamentals, not differentiators.
The real skill is knowing how to change your clients’ whole perinatal experience.
That’s what we go into deeply in my Perinatal Pilates Instructor Course.
Now tell me:
which YES or NO surprised you most? 👇

Happy birthday to you, my second angel 🫶🏽
Your cheeky face.
Your hyperorganised organisation.
Your endless love for all living creatures.
Your obsession with flags, cars, and the depth of our oceans.
Your divine sense of colour.
Your equally divine distaste for small talk.
(If it’s not essential and 1000% genuine, you’re not interested, thank you.)
Your golden heart wrapped in sulky facial territory.
One must shed quite a few layers of decorum to be let in.
Before you, I thought people who did not smile to strangers were unkind.
You’ve taught me that some humans just have an in-built filter, and that’s their superpower.
Happy 6th birthday, Juju, forever baby J.
I love you so much my little Virgo.
May you always be my teacher 🤍
May you always be my baby ✨

‼️Your core is not just your abs.
So I’m always looking for ways to challenge the whole system, rather than asking one area to do more.
On the Chair, the Magic Circle is one of my favourite tools for that.
Especially when it’s NOT placed between your legs.
Because for many people - and particularly when pelvic floor dysfunction is already part of the picture - the inner thighs are already overgripping.
Squeeze the Circle there and you may just be adding more tissue restriction to an area that needs a little more freedom.
Here’s where it actually earns its place:
(Notably for women’s health concerns)
→ Around the ankles during arm toe taps and bridge stretch
Helps broaden the sacral area and create expansion through the tissues around it.
→ In the prone series
It becomes feedback.
The moment you sink into your back instead of connecting through your whole core canister, you’ll feel it.
→ Around the handle and arm in this obliques series
Adds a layer of stabilisation that isn’t asking your pelvic floor and deep 6 to do it alone.
Because it never should be.
This is what I love about good core work.
We’re not just trying to make the abs stronger.
(Though we will gladly take that washboard, thank you!)
We’re asking the whole system to connect, respond, expand and share the load.
That’s core strength.
And that’s core health.

15 years mon Papa 🌹
2 weeks ago, my children visited your grave for the first time.
I didn’t mean to take them with me.
But I had not been for too long.
And when I told them I’d be right back, they said they wanted to come with me.
As I reach the age where the friends who had been spared an early entry into this grim club begin to lose their parents -
Or at least realise they won’t be here forever-
I remember my daddy.
I celebrate his rest.
For the fifteenth 9th of September.
The month he was born into.
The month he also found his freedom.
My dad.
A sensitive soul who could not quite bear the harshness of this world.
Let alone the depth of his own demons.
A man who was imperfect around us.
(In their suffering, parents hurt children so much.)
Whose complexion turned yellow before he could show a single grey hair.
How stunning his hair was.
The darkest shade of black I have ever seen.
Think liquorice, if liquorice were fluffy.
An insanely intelligent man who simply did not find his people.
As I reach the age my emotions no longer scare me.
They’re my compass.
I celebrate neuroscience.
I celebrate that some healthcare providers no longer shame addicts.
And that men are allowed emotions
(though I know, I know; we still have a long way to go.)
And as the number of people who remember him dims like headlights on a dark road
(Addicts push everyone away -and we are back to liquorice, aren’t we?)
His light grows brighter in me.
In my children.
I do my best to make shame the big absent of their lives.
Because it took his.
It is a hard thing to think about what you could have done.
Had you been 40 when your parent needed help.
“It was not your role”, some well-meaning people will say
-those not yet in the grim club.
But it stays with you.
The What ifs.
So thank you for the gift, Papounet.
The lesson of not settling for less than finding my people.
Of honouring my scary parts, of daring to be openly wounded.
We both know it is lethal business- to pretend.
To suppress.
Thank you for the gift.
We love you.
We still do.
And we always will ✨

✨Hot take: Your body doesn’t know it’s supposed to pick a side.
It just knows it needs to be strong, mobile, resilient and capable.
Pilates can help you build control, balance, mobility, coordination and strength.
Strength training can help you build capacity, power and resilience.
And your body benefits from all of it.
Different tools.
Different adaptations.
Same goal: a body that can do more, for longer, with confidence.
So yes, we’re taking both. 😉
Because kinda chic is not choosing teams.
It’s choosing what your body needs.
And we’re here for it.
With love,
Brit x M

Two Pilates brains 🧠 One posterior chain ✨
We could all use a little more posterior chain in our lives.
So why should it stop just because you need it the most - whilst traveling?
Marcela took a long band onto the lawn and created this beautiful prone series.
I played with a similar idea on the Chair 🙌🏽
And suddenly… the stiffness from traveling disappeared.
For both of us.
Glutes.
Hamstrings.
Spinal extensors.
Shoulder girdle stabilisers.
That whole posterior chain woke up and assisted those tight hips and shoulders.
The beauty of Pilates is that you don’t always need more equipment.
You need a creative mind.
A mind that is available to the present moment.
A resilient mind, really.
You need to look at what you have and ask:
How can I create more length?
More connection?
More depth?
Because whether you’re in a studio, at home, or squeezing in a little movement while travelling, your posterior chain needs the love!
Pilates travels well.
So should your creativity. 🤍

❗Before I ask a postpartum body to handle running.
Hundreds of foot strikes.
I want to know it can move, lengthen and respond.
That’s one of the reasons I love the Chair when preparing for return to running.
Because running isn’t just about making the pelvic floor stronger.
It’s about what happens when load moves through the whole system.
Can the pelvis move?
Can the ribs expand?
Can the pelvic floor lengthen under load?
Can it absorb and redirect force?
The Chair gives me so many ways to explore those questions.
A lunge to arabesque with the pedal challenges single-leg control.
A band around the legs in a modified jackknife creates resistance while encouraging length through the pelvic floor.
A swan prep with a full back-rib breath brings thoracic mobility and pressure management into the conversation.
The banded work adds another layer of feedback to this fabulous piece of equipment.
None of these movements are “running exercises.”
And that’s exactly the point.
I’m not trying to recreate running on the Chair.
I’m building the ingredients the body needs to eventually tolerate running.
Strength.
Mobility.
Resilience.
Stability.
Because return to running isn’t a switch you turn back on.
It’s a capacity you build.
📆 My next perinatal Pilates instructor course begins September 27th.
And I am finally back at the studio teaching this week!
I have missed the Chair!
