Pigeons almost always lay a fixed clutch of 2 eggs. When you spot 3 eggs in a nest, it usually points to one of three natural behaviors:
* Two females sharing a nest: When loft space is limited or pairing bond choices overlap, two hens may pair up or lay in the same nest bowl.
* Double clutches: A hen lays a fresh egg right as the previous batch finishes, leading to an extra egg in the clutch.
* Superfetation: A rare genetic variation where a hen releases an extra o**m during her normal laying cycle.
To maximize hatch rate, foster the 3rd egg to another pair so the parents can brood effectively!
