Our vision is to prepare young learners to live limitless lives by providing a solid educational foundation, delivered in an environment where teachers are highly qualified and enthusiastic, and lessons are fun and inspiring.
Our aim is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are balanced and motivated to succeed, students who will build a better world through their understanding and respect for the natural laws of the Universe.
Who will through their own curiosity and quest for better solutions pave the way for a world of tolerance, cooperation and sustainability.
Emotions affect Learning Capability
Advances in Neuroscience highlight connections between emotions and cognition; the aspects of cognition that we rely on in school, namely learning, memory, decision making and attention are either enhanced or diminished by emotional states.
During the experience of stress and negative emotions such as anger, frustration and anxiety, heart rhythms become more erratic and disordered. This is indicative of desynchronization in the reciprocal action between the parasympathetic and sympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) as well as inhibited function in higher brain centers.
The generation of this erratic pattern of heart and nervous system activity impedes the efficient flow of information throughout the psychophysiological systems and interferes with the brain’s ability to properly synchronize neural activity (Ratey, 2001).
Q. How does this relate to your child?
A. Stress affects everyone in a negative way but the bottom line is stressed children don’t retain new knowledge.
At Elite Learners teachers are familiar with the latest research from the HeartMath Institute and utilise software not available in any other UAE schools designed to teach even the youngest children resilience techniques.
Children will be in the optimum brain state for retention of knowledge.
The cornerstone of what we do is create the very best environment for your child to succeed, and for that success to bring him/her great happiness. Coming to Elite Learners should be a joyful experience for children and parents alike.
There is no naughty step, no time-out and no raised voices. We understand when a child seeks attention he is showing us he is experiencing fear, perhaps doesn’t understand something and that is a signal for us to try a new approach.
We have a quiet room and there will be one to one time with a Human Potential Life Coach if we think a child could use some techniques for self managing anxiety.
Children with high EQ (emotional intelligence) are more likely to shape a better future for themselves and everyone around them; they will make better siblings, class mates, university graduates, businessmen/women, leaders.
The Curriculum
The British Curriculum is embedded within the larger intentions of Elite Learners, which include:
• educating the whole human being;
• the awakening of intelligence and development of goodness;
• discovering excellence in academic studies;
• embracing healthy living and understanding the importance of diet and exercise
• learning to appreciate the world, seeing our place in it and responsibility for it;
• learning about the subatomic world and the effect we have on it through thinking
• discovering one's unique talent
Our aim is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are balanced and motivated to succeed.
To develop students who will build a better world through their understanding and respect for the natural laws of the Universe. Who will through their own curiosity and quest for better solutions pave the way for a world of peace, cooperation and sustainability.
The innovators, inventors, decision makers, the CEOs who will suggest a better way because they grew up making heart-based choices.
We will provide the most professional teachers to deliver the most highly acclaimed curriculum in the western world and we will do that with respect for your child’s natural ability.
It is our intention to have a zero homework policy. Parents are not trained teachers and we don’t expect them to do our work. We believe that family time is the most precious part of the day and we want our students to enjoy that with plenty of play and cuddle time. We encourage reading to your child every night, everyone loves a bedtime story, and we will suggest fun ways for you to help reinforce lessons, but this will not resemble what we do in class.
