Books allow us to stop, pause, take time out of our busy days to reflect and connect. When children experience the familiar in a book they can make a deeper emotional connection to their culture and traditions and feel a sense of belonging and pride.

I wrote ‘Under the Shade of an Old Ghaf Tree’ to celebrate the Emirati culture of friendship, sharing and caring and showcase some of the delicious food of the UAE.

I had a great time at the Sharjah international book fair today with fellow authors Dr Ahmed Khoori and Bashayer Al Issa on a discussion panel “ preserving culture and heritage through storytelling “
