حيث يلتقي البدر بالشوكولاتة 🌕🍫

بالتعاون مع Mirzam Chocolate ، جمعت جلسة تصوير البدر الفلكية بين علم الفلك، والتراث، والرصد في تجربة مسائية مميزة.

خلال الجلسة، تعرّف الضيوف على تراث السماء الليلية في دولة الإمارات، واستكشفوا أساسيات علم الفلك، ثم رصدوا البدر باستخدام التلسكوبات التقليدية وتلسكوب Vespera الذكي.

أمسية مميزة جمعت بين العلم، والتراث، وفن صناعة الشوكولاتة.

Where the Full Moon Meets Chocolate 🌕🍫

In collaboration with Mirzam Chocolate , our Full Moon Astrophotography Session brought together astronomy, culture, and observation in a unique evening experience.

Throughout the session, guests explored the heritage of the UAE night sky, gained an introduction to astronomy, and observed the Full Moon through traditional telescopes and our Vespera smart telescope.

A memorable evening combining science, heritage, and the craft of chocolate.

مجرة السومبريرو (M104)، كما التقطناها من مرصد السديم الفلكي في أبوظبي 🌌

على بُعد نحو 28 مليون سنة ضوئية من الأرض، وفي كوكبة العذراء، تقع واحدة من أكثر المجرات تميزاً في سمائنا — مجرة السومبريرو.

نرى المجرة من الأرض بزاوية شبه جانبية، ما يُظهر مركزها شديد السطوع وشريطاً داكناً بارزاً من الغبار بين النجمي يمتد عبر قرصها. هذا الشكل المميز هو ما منحها اسمها الشهير، إذ تبدو وكأنها ترتدي قبعة السومبريرو.

تمتد المجرة لنحو 50 ألف سنة ضوئية، وتضم مئات المليارات من النجوم. وفي قلبها يوجد جسم أكثر إثارة للاهتمام: ثقب أسود فائق الكتلة تُقدّر كتلته بنحو مليار ضعف كتلة الشمس.

لكن M104 ليست المجرة الوحيدة التي تظهر في هذه الصورة. عند التدقيق في الخلفية، يمكن ملاحظة عدد من المجرات البعيدة والخافتة المنتشرة بين النجوم، وبعضها يقع على مسافات أبعد بكثير من مجرة السومبريرو نفسها.

والأكثر إثارة أن الضوء الذي التقطناه في هذه الصورة بدأ رحلته عبر الفضاء قبل نحو 30 مليون سنة. فنحن لا ننظر فقط إلى مسافة هائلة في الكون — بل ننظر أيضاً إلى الماضي.

The Sombrero Galaxy (M104), captured from Al Sadeem Observatory in Abu Dhabi 🌌

Around 28 million light-years away, in the constellation Virgo, lies one of the most distinctive galaxies in our night sky — the Sombrero Galaxy.

Viewed almost edge-on from Earth, M104 is instantly recognizable by its bright central bulge and the dramatic dark lane of interstellar dust cutting across its disk, creating the iconic shape that gave the galaxy its name.

Spanning roughly 50,000 light-years, the Sombrero Galaxy is home to hundreds of billions of stars. Hidden at its centre is something even more extraordinary: a supermassive black hole estimated to have a mass around one billion times that of our Sun.

But M104 isn’t the only galaxy in this image. Look closely at the background and you’ll notice several faint, distant galaxies scattered among the stars — some lying far beyond the Sombrero Galaxy itself.

And perhaps the most fascinating part: the light captured in this image began its journey across space around 30 million years ago. We’re not simply looking across an enormous distance — we’re looking back in time.

سديم الحجاب هو بقايا انفجار نجم ضخم قبل آلاف السنين، ويقع على بُعد نحو ٢٬١٠٠ سنة ضوئية من الأرض في كوكبة الدجاجة. وتمتد خيوطه المتوهجة من الغاز عبر الفضاء، لترسم هذا المشهد المذهل بألوانه وتفاصيله الجميلة.

The Veil Nebula is the remnant of a massive star that exploded thousands of years ago, located around 2,100 light-years from Earth in the constellation Cygnus. Its glowing threads of gas stretch across space, creating this stunning scene of colour and detail.
