My name is Zakaia Cvitanovich. I am a researcher in Sociology at the University of New England (Armidale, NSW, Australia). I am currently conducting research into online toxicity in Facebook rugby communities and whether this contributes to the early retirement of match officials. The title of my research is Tackling Online Rugby Discourses. The aim of this research is to investigate the ramifications of the growing toxicity in Facebook rugby communities on match officials and community members and consider what it means for the sport as a whole.

Participants will not be identified by name, and you will not be asked to provide any sensitive information.

This research has been approved by the Human Research Ethics Committee of the University of New England (Approval Number: HE24-140, Valid to 01/11/2026).
