Meet robot rabbit, a gear-loving explorer! It recently discovered the power of 'idler gears' to fix syncing issues and learned about the importance of symmetry in building gear models. Remember, young engineers: idler gears keep things moving smoothly, and symmetry is key for optimal performance. This is just one of the lessons you can learn through the Bricks Challenge Program.

Ever wondered how those big garbage trucks come and whisk away our garbage?
They have mechanisms like levers to lift heavy garbage accumulated in the community! But did you know that they still have to slow down just so they won’t break? Machines are prone to breaking when working with a lot of power. And garbage trucks use a lot of their power daily.
How come they don’t break? All thanks to their mechanical force control or the use of mechanical systems, such as levers, gears, or hydraulics to regulate and manage the amount of force exerted by a machine.

Our Galileo Technic students had an exciting experience learning about kinematic chains while building and playing with the Sand Truck model! 🚛🔗

They were introduced to the concept, which involves connecting two or more parts with nails to enable the transmission of movement. 🔩🛠️They discovered how the rotational motion of the motor was cleverly converted into the vertical movement of the container. ⚙️🏗️🏢🚧

Last week the Galileo Technic students learned about oscillation mechanisms and how to create back and forth circular movements through building and playing with the Playground Swing model. 🏞️🛠️

They were introduced to the concept of an oscillation, which refers to a repetitive back and forth movement of a body, and the oscillation between two wheels, which results in the movement of the swing. They also had the opportunity to upgrade the swing by enlarging it, adding more children, or making the swing arms taller to create a longer oscillating movement. 🔝📈

Last week the Bricks Challenge students learned about the Chain Transmission by building a Vintage Car model. 🚗 The objective of the lesson was for students to become familiar with the advantages of a chain transmission compared with a belt transmission. They also learned how this type of transmission has the advantages of both the gear transmission and belt transmission, making it a popular choice for many devices. 💡 Challenge Fun

We're sad to see these Young Engineers go but so proud of their accomplishments throughout the years!
After finishing the final Young Engineers program, the Robotics students are now Young Engineers graduates. This year they developed their algorithmic thinking and improved their programming skills to include different motors and sensors.

This year the Robo Bricks students learned a lot about the coding process. They learned about algorithms and pseudo codes as well as how to program their builds to perform various functions.

Rube Goldberg Machine
Last week the Robotics students built a Rube Goldberg Machine with their parents!
The whole class had to work together with this one. Each team's build had to perform a certain function which lead to the following model being activated. This created a chain reaction where one build would start moving after the other.
Everyone had so much fun trying to figure out how to make the machine work.

Space Vehicle
This Space Vehicle used chains to move, which is a big hype for the students.
They learned about the moon and it's role with the tides. Gravity and weight was also discussed in comparison to space.
This model is designed to climb objects such as boulders in it's way.
The Young Engineers had a lot of fun with this model and especially enjoyed having their parents in class to join in!

Last week the Robo Bricks students were joined in the class by their parents!
Together they had to make their biggest build for this year.
The aim of the game was to spin a container with holes around the side while attached to a lifted platform and then guessing which pieces would fall out before they do.

Rube Goldberg Machine
Last week the Algo Play students had their parents week!
For their build, the students had to make a Rube Goldberg machine, which created a chain reaction. Dominoes were placed in a pattern and by the end all of the dominoes were knocked over in a chain reaction.
They buil was quite a challenge and we were happy to have so many parents in the class joining in on the building fun!

Robot Rabbit
Last week was our Parent Build!!
The Bricks Challenge students was given an exciting build, learning about symmetry and a-symmetry.
Building the Robot Rabbit they used gear transmission applying one of our concepts called an idle gear.
The young engineers were thrilled to share this fun experience with their parents.

They had to use their programs and enhancements as clues for their riddle.

Forklift
The Galileo Technic students learned about the Centre of Gravity. Using a forklift in warehouses or to travel with transporting trucks, now we know the engineering behind it.
Everyone had a blast enhancing their forklifts and creating pallets for it to lift up.
