Throwback to one of my favorite elephant encounters on foot. This was along the camp fence at Bakgatla in Pilanesberg Nature Reserve a few years ago. The camp was super quiet and I was walking the fence alone when out of the blue this guy came up to me, said hi and disappeared again.

WATER MONITOR'S MEAL FIGHTS BACK 15/11/2020

A little while ago I was on tour with clients in Pilanesberg Nature Reserve and crossed over the low water bridge at Makorwane Dam. A very young Water Monitor Lizard (Varanus niloticus) managed to capture a frog in one of the small rock-pools. I first thought that it might be a Platanna (fully aquatic frog species) but I am not so sure about that now.
