The Capricorn Edu Fund invites members of the public/businesses to invest in education in Capricorn Pre and Primary Schools and all their projects
The Capricorn Edu Fund is a joint initiative of Chic Mamas Do Care Non-Profit Organization and The Vrygrond Community Development Trust, established in May 2016 and acts on the belief that the health of a nation begins with the quality of its public school education and with the basic human right to attend school, no matter what circumstances one might encounter in life. We aim to create sufficien
t funds for the Children of the Vrygrond Community and to impact student achievement, maximizing student potential especially for those who live in abject poverty. Our goal is to raise awareness of the importance of public participation and the ‘power’ of societal intervention; namely private-sector investments into our youth and the critical issues of public education. We are calling individuals and businesses in our Community to join us to give children a chance to attend school. Capricorn Primary is a no fee school, because 80% of the families earn less than R3600 as a combined family income. The sad reality is that more than 80% of people in the community never matriculated. The lack of opportunities for quality education is a call for all the non-profits in Vrygrond to work together. Their common goal is to create change, The Capricorn Edu Fund being one key part in the Primary education sphere. Mission
The Capricorn Edu Fund’s mission is to provide private sector assistance and support for school fees of pupils and support for innovation in Capricorn Primary School, Vrygrond. Vision

Create Funding Bodies
A new concept - when more than one individual or employees of a small business decide to join forces in sponsoring 1 or many children. Great way to become socially active and contribute to someone’s education, in a joint group effort. Funding Bodies can be any groups from 2 people or more, and they can sponsor as many children as they responsibly can afford. Calling all book clubs, church groups, running clubs... help us to raise our children! Participate
Be active and participate in bi-annual get together with your chosen/sponsored child/children. You can meet them in person and also you can get to know their Families, teachers and the environment they live in. If you run your own business, learn the importance of teaching and its direct link to student achievement by teaching a class. It's a fun company event for you, your employees or colleagues. You can decide how much or little you wish to be engaged with your sponsorship. Donate excess inventory, office supplies or miscellaneous items for Educational Materials, supply teacher’s classrooms with additional items and materials. From paper to excess pencils, bolts of fabric to unused office supplies, our teachers can use it in their classroom. Volunteer your time in reading programs such as Word Works, where you can spend a few hours each week with your selected pupil. Giving the gift of reading is a special act and children appreciate extra attention and look forward this connection every week. We are creating an afternoon aftercare program, where volunteers would be vital to its success.
