Here’s one by Grade 4 learner, Bianca van Deventer. Carefully crafted to exude vibrance, energy and life through bright colours and artistically defined edges, this piece speaks volumes about the freedom with which Curro Online encourages its learners to self-express.

Recently, our young Master Chefs raided their kitchens to whip up some scrumptious chocolate chip oatmeal cookies! In a MASTER CHEF class, carefully guided by teacher and ‘Head Chef’ Ms. Charne Meyer, the learners practiced a great deal of precision and patience in the fine art of baking and BOY did they have (bake) their cake and eat it, too! 😋 Recipe’s below if you want to give it a shot… 😃

Did you know: Curro Online offers MASTER CHEF as an extramural activity for all grades?

Inspired by the story of Vanessa Monarch - a young girl who left a legacy of butterfly conservation as a courageous act against her parents who captured and killed them for display - Grade 9 learner, Jahzara Ranjith, created this beautiful mask bringing the superheroine to life.

Carefully crafting the mask from newspaper, twigs, and paper mâché, among other materials, Jahzara completed her Creative Arts masterpiece in 5 hours!

Dedication at its best! Well done, Jahzara 💙

Happy Freedom Day! 💙

Once upon a time, the talented Mrs. Liesel Ashman tasked her Grade 7s to create an illustrated story from the depths of their blossoming, artistic imaginations. In turn, demonstrating:

✔️ The critical skill of following a brief,
✔️ The eloquent, meaningful, and captivating use of words, and
✔️ The importance of READING to broaden the imagination,

learner, Diya Govender, wowed her peers and teacher with her beautiful rendition of 'Luna and The Moonstone', below… Enjoy 💙

WONDERFUL WORK, Diya, and kudos to you, Mrs. Ashman. 💐💐💐 | [email protected]

Today we celebrate the joys of holding, then opening, THEN READING a good ol’ BOOK! Nothing quite like getting lost in one, right? We also remember the great minds behind every word, sentence and well-placed punctuation mark that helped transcend us into extraordinary spaces.

Hey, at Curro Online, we read offline, too, you know😅

Our Executive Head, Mrs. Faith Njau, shares: “As an avid reader, books that I consider favourites change with the seasons of life I navigate. The following books are currently on my fav list:

- The Holy Bible (consistently a fav)
- Nervous Conditions by Tsitsi Dangarembga
- Dare to Lead by Dr Brene Brown

Each of these books have inspired me to reflect on who I am and the direction I want my life to take so that I can live what is hopefully a fulfilling, meaningful and impactful life..” ❤️

So, what are you reading lately? Tell us why you love it, below. Happy reading!

After three weeks on the road (Namibia and Pretoria) we wrap our Curro Arts Superhero project week in Johannesburg today. We have already seen and mentored almost 4800 learners. Curro Create is extremely honoured and privileged to work with the best industry professionals to mentor our learners. And then we also tour with the best professional crew (stage managers and sound engineers). Check out this incredible photo of these amazing humans.

🔦 Spotlight on Academics!

Curro Online offers the advantage of flexibility. Here’s what Lyra van Tonder, a Grade 12 learner, had to say:
‘I began my small business during 2020, during a period of transitioning between schools due to lockdowns and isolation. I started by selling decorated cakes, cupcakes, and various other baked goods.

I distinctly remember times when I would be in a Curro Online class, simultaneously listening to a lesson while preparing orders for delivery. Having the flexibility to work on my business during breaks or fix any mistakes without waiting until after school hours was incredibly beneficial …’
