Ideological divisions within the BRICS
In seeking a new South-South developmental and geopolitical approach, the BRICS have constructed both an ideological and strategic rhetoric of the Global South that projects an anti-imperial counterbalance to the North. The rhetoric of BRICS against Western domination, it is argued by Samir Amin and others is simply that, as the BRICS states all remain effectively assimilated into the prevailing capitalist system. There are many ideologies floating through the BRICS and associated commentariats. Coming to grips with the narratives is one of the main challenges for social justice activists, especially when so much is at stake and the BRICS' internal contradictions are so profound.
