Communicate internationally without words. A picture is worth a 1000 words.

Operating as usual

Try to tell the story as it is written.

The San people had a written communication. They did not just draw on the rocks but saved their information for generations to come. They also read and studied the information of their ancestors. Some modern people who learned to read the stories and maps of these ancient writers spoke about the rocks of the moon (diamonds). They claimed to have found their riches through the picture language. The movement of internationalizing infographs, originated from these master writers.
I enjoyed my son as he laughed his way through the entire set of Tintin books written by Herge. He read them again and again and of course he loved to tell the stories over and entertain us as well. As he grew older, he read the series again. This time he laughed even more. !He was now able to read the words.! What inspired me, was how accurate he read the stories before he was able to read the words.
Lately, Chinese appliance manuals are more efficient. When it was written in many languages, users suffered to find their badly translated paragraphs in the fine script. Now that infographs are used, you would receive a very short manual, if not, only a single page, covered with pictures.
Real pictures with infographs communicates more.
Other places where infographs are used with great success, is in advertisements, cartooning, training material for presentations and many others. Flow diagrams of technical material is perhaps the first successful international communication with infographs.
In the year 2018, most people, especially well versed and well learned people, have an infograph vocabulary below the age of 4 years. They cannot read, nor write in infographs. This is going to change in the next few years. Hopefully by 2030 all children in sub-grades will already read and “write” in it even before they learn the alphabet.

The challenge is to create a movement to encourage all people on earth to use picture language. The world can already communicate with pictures. As an example, read a book of Tintin and ignore the words. Read it again with the words and see how close you came to understanding it all. See the instructions on your printer cartridge. Most of them use pictures instead of words. We accept all available methods of picture communication, but on paper we lean more toward the San people's method where the picture communicated almost everything and then we use infographs on it. An infograph is a semiotic gesture that I add to a picture to communicate more. For instance, a few lines next to a ball communicate that it moves. An arrow placed in a specific place can communicate order or direction or highlights an object.

Methods in symbolic languages can also be used, but it take long to receive recognition. Most symbolic languages become phonetic and is therefore language-bound. Training material should transcend the barriers of language.

A picture is worth a thousand words.
