Study: Mopping with this household cleaner is like breathing car exhaust

"We found that the amount of particles that were produced during each mopping period was either equivalent or more than what you would be inhaling when you're standing on a busy road where thousands of vehicles pass by every day and have your huge buildings around,” lead author Colleen Rosales, an atmospheric and air pollution chemist at Indiana University, tells Inverse.

Fortunately, there are simple ways to protect yourself during this pine-scented toxin eruption...." Read more below:

The truth about turbinates - Westport Facial Plastic Surgery 20/01/2022

The truth about turbinates - Westport Facial Plastic Surgery

What a great article: Quote:
"In reality, the turbinate is not a mystery organ that undergoes inflammation, and then needs to be shrunken by well-meaning experts. Instead, it a critical part of the nasal airflow system that maintains air-pressure in the throat to prevent collapse during sleep, by PREVENTING turbulent airflow within the nose and maintaining smooth jets of inspired air from the nostrils. I know…you were told the exact opposite was true, and that shrinking the turbinates would help your sleep symptoms. The turbinate is not the cause of nasal obstruction in most cases (except in its most extreme form when the turbiate has become so swollen to become polypoid or extremely stretched out (see video below). Unfortunately, most doctors and patients confuse two entirely distinct conditions as one, and this creates a massive inefficiency in our healthcare. The two distinct conditions are: 1). True nasal obstruction, which manifests as a deformity of narrow nostrils, or a very deviated septum – (this is less common) and 2). Nasal Disuse (or underuse) – (which is extremely common and coined by Stanford’s late Christian Guilleminault), and simply means that the nose FEELS obstructed but is simply not used or is underused. Obviously, #1 (True obstruction) can be fixed if the obstruction is relieved, and that is another topic for another day. But, #2 (Nasal Disuse) can be confusing to all because it consists of invisible forces!" Read the rest here:

The truth about turbinates - Westport Facial Plastic Surgery “…rhinological adenoids was a disappearing condition and that theoperation for it was seldom needed at the present day and would ultimately follow the amputation of the uvula or the removal of the inferior turbinal into the limbo of forgotten industries.” -Somerville and Hastings, Royal Procee...

Breathing humid and salt-enriched air reduces respiratory droplet generation 06/09/2021

Breathing humid and salt-enriched air reduces respiratory droplet generation

Prof KP Buteyko always stressed the value and importance of fresh sea salt. Now studies are showing how being in a salt air environment is able to help reduce transmission of disease. "In a second study, a preliminary ecological regression study of COVID-19 cases in the United States between January 2020 and March 2021, the authors found a correlation between exposure to elevated airborne salt concentration in locations along the U.S. Gulf and Pacific coastlines with strong inland-oriented wind patterns and suppression of COVID-19 incidence and deaths per capita relative to inland counties by approximately 25% to 30%. The researchers accounted for ten potential confounding environmental, physiological, and behavioral variables."

Breathing humid and salt-enriched air reduces respiratory droplet generation May contribute to the effectiveness of cotton masks and reduce incidence of and death by COVID-19 near seacoasts

Breathing life into bone

“We’ve long known that the skeletons of ornithischian dinosaurs were radically different from those of other dinosaurs,” said Professor Butler, “This amazing new fossil helps us understand why ornithischians were so distinctive and successful”.

The study found that Heterodontosaurus was using its oddly shaped ribs connected to its sternum to breathe, but that it also showed the first steps towards a muscle attached to the hips that would inflate the lung – similar to how crocodiles breathe."
