Operating as usual

[09/01/17]   My father’s name is Frankenstein
He comes from Barbados
He fashioned me from fishing twine
And instant mashed potatoes.
My mother’s name is Draculeen
She lets a big bat bite her
And folks who stay here overnight
Wake up a few pints lighter…

[09/01/17]   In life, there is 'if'
In business, there is 'sin'
In beliefs, there is 'lies'
In bodies, there is 'dies'.
There’s 'moth' in mother,
There’s 'broth' in brother
There’s 'the' in other
And both of them in bother !!!

[09/01/17]   There is a voice inside of you
That whispers all day long
‘I feel that this is right for me,’
Or, ‘I know that this is wrong.’
No teacher, preacher, parent, friend
Or wise man can decide
What’s right for you… so, listen to
The voice that speaks inside.

[05/31/17]   Semantics

There is no egg in eggplant
A hamburger has no ham
A pineapple has neither apple nor pine
English muffins are not English
And quicksand can be slow
A Guinea Pig is not a pig
And neither is it from Guinea
You can only make amends
And we say odds and ends
The past tense of teach is taught
But reach is reached, not raught!

[05/31/17]   Ignorance is (not) bliss

Wrong or right, don’t get uptight
You know two wrongs don’t make a right
Take a break from the pressure
Take the time to measure
The good and the bad things in life
All that glitters is not gold
Don’t believe everything you're told
There's more to it than meets the eye
And dark secrets are beginning to unfold
Ask a silly question and get a silly answer
Let the lies and deception
Go in one ear and out the other
Time flies by in the blink of an eye
Unaffected by earthly endeavour
And between you and me we can all see
That something’s awry with the weather
We’ve got to wake up, stop ignoring the signs
If we don’t, one day we’ll wake up and find
That the past and the present together represent
A future that’s run out of time
We’re only as strong as the weakest link
Teach everyone how to swim and not sink
Actions always speak louder than words
A little knowledge’s a dangerous thing.

[05/01/17]   When I was small and not very tall
The price of bread went up, a lot!
This bothered my mother, most of all
Who no longer bought bread from the shop...

Because from that day until she passed away
Mum baked a lot of loaves
How many, you ask? It’s hard to say,
I guess it was a knead to dough …

[04/30/17]   Some of some

Some have God, some don’t pray
Some have it easy, some the hard way
There are also some who make a stand
While some just run away.

Some rely on themselves
And some ask for help
Some twitch and jump with nerves
And some require a bell.☯️

Some offer a helping hand
And some create dismay
Some bury their heads in sand,
While some can’t look away.

Some will love frequently
And some will love in vain
And people of integrity
Have some of everything!

[04/29/17]   You say you know a lot of words and this much is true
But no matter what you say, you just can’t get through
No matter how hard you try, working through the night
You won’t get through until you learn to say it right.

There’s a lot riding here, there’s too much at stake
You’ve got to improve daily, no matter what it takes
To get you speaking fluently you need to find a source
That delivers on the promises made before the course.

Never fear, don’t despair, give it another go
The Chatterbox Club is just the place to help your English grow
How you say it matters, and we provide the key
To get you speaking fluently, and with accuracy.

If you want to test it first, that will be quite fine
Just send us an email, or drop us a line!
We’d really like to hear from you, one of these fine days
But, time is of the essence, so do not delay!

[04/29/17]   Shape up or ship out

To be one step ahead you need to step up your game
And show some strength of character, or go down in flames.
Know where you’re heading and keep your goal in sight
Do your preparation well and check the facts are right.

Keep your eyes peeled and both hands on the wheel
Work your fingers to the bone, just to make the deal
Go the extra mile and leave no stone unturned
To get a foot in the door and gain the upper hand.

Sink your teeth into it, give it all you've got
Put your best foot forward and go straight to the top.
If you stick to your guns and never deviate
It won’t be you who’s shipping out, you’ll be in great shape!

[04/28/17]   A Storm in a teacup

Your head’s in the clouds and your mind’s in a fog
Do you feel under the weather, as sick as a dog?

You’re down in the doldrums, my fair-weather friend
And you’re in for nasty weather as you go around the bend.

It’s time to take a rain check before making your way home
You’ve wondered off the beaten track into the twilight zone!

In the calm before the storm, there’s a cloud on the horizon
But looking on the bright side - every cloud’s a silver linin’!!

Throw caution to the wind because at the end of the day …
Laughter’s the best medicine to keep the blues way!!!

[04/24/17]   AROUND THE CLOCK

When life gets busy, it’s all systems, go
No time, even, for a break from the show
No rest for the weary, too tired to think clearly
And no time to sit back and watch the telly.

From morning ‘til night and from dusk ‘til first light,
We toil never knowing if we’re wrong or we’re right
And time flies by, as straight as an arrow
Here today and gone tomorrow.

Give it your best shot, give it all you’ve got
Running in circles, racing against the clock.
It’s a matter of time and there’s no time to lose.
It’s now or never to pay your dues

Calling it a day is not calling it a night
Spend time like it’s money - with glee and delight
It’s time for a change, at the end of the day
Because a change is as good as a holiday.

So, live day to day in the way of Feng shui
And practice tai chi to keep sickness at bay
Give all you can to the less fortunate man
Teach him to learn all he can.

How well can you speak English, now that your course is done?
Does it give you an advantage, are you having fun?
Do you speak with confidence, can you be understood?
Or, are you looking for a miracle that’ll turn bad English, into good?

Relax, sit back and look no more, your search for help is through
The miracle you seek is here, and it’s available to you
A method at last with the primary task of producing a classier speaker
So, don’t delay, try it out today – because the sooner you do, the better!

English is a truly international language...

[02/06/17]   Pronunciation is the basic quality-determiner of language learning. Though most second language learners don't bother trying to have the pronunciation of a native speaker, poor pronunciation can obscure communication and will cause confusion and doubt, and, not surprisingly, prevent an ESL student from making his meaning known.

[02/06/17]   Pronunciation is paradoxically the most important and most overlooked part of language learning. In standard curricula around the world, next to no time is set aside for practicing dialogue and although most second language learners will never have the pronunciation of a native speaker, poor pronunciation will obscure intention and content, and prevent your communication from making any sense - in ANY language, but never more so than in English.

Become one of the hundreds upon thousands of online learners, in other words, people who are studying subject matter by way of the Internet, who are working towards a diploma, certificate or higher...
