In assisting with confusion:
As Grade R is now compulsory, Teacher Practitioners will be required to have either an educational degree or Nqf level 4 - 6 through Qcto. These are the requirements for departmental posts in working at Government schools.
There is NO official requirement (regretably) for Teacher Practitioners working with children before Grade R.
The Lynne Hobbs course has been in circulation for over 30 years and is Etdp Seta aligned and FULLY suitable for ECD Practitioners working with children below Grade R. Unlike Qcto accredited qualifications, NO EXAMS are required for the Lynne Hobbs course and assessment is completed on the return of learner Portfolio of Evidence. All learners receive a certificate on successful completion of the course.

One of the most economical, comprehensive courses with NO EXAMS for teaching from birth to 6 years and assessed on return of portfolio of Evidence before certification is issued. Learn in your own time, own pace, own comfort with OUR LONG DISTANCE/CORRESPONDENCE learning course.
Due to the changes by the South African Department of Education, Etdp Seta and Qcto, learners now require to obtain the equivalent of a DIPLOMA/DEGREE in teaching FROM GRADE R which NOW involves onsite exams. This means that even studying through long distance, you will be required to attend a venue for exams.
There are no restrictions pertaining to Early Childhood Development in working with children BELOW Grade R. The only Ecd Qcto accredited course for below Grade R is Level 1 for Assistant Teachers. The Lynne Hobbs course covers comprehensive content for Ecd Practitioners until Grade R.
Most Ecd employers are requiring training from an accredited Service Provider. This is logic for knowledge based performance and accredability.
