Children of Light Educare
Vision: Integral education that nurtures the innate divinity and potential of children and youth This may also enhance self-development.
The lifestyle of children today are extremely demanding and unbalanced, as a result of a demanding academic curriculum, compulsory participation in extra-mural activities, extra-tuition, compulsory sporting activities, social life, poverty, unstable households and neglect. This has led to children being over stressed, overworked, becoming involved in substance abuse, developing destruc

Our graduation 2023 ❤️
Today we celebrated the year with LKRS ECD forum members. A forum that supports C**T in various ways. An opportunity to engage with Department of Social Development staff and staff from the Office of the Councillor.
Spring is here and our little gardeners are busy weeding, watering, making compost with such focus and curiosity.
Thabks to Devi and Ntombie. 🌻💚🥒🥦
Our annual Christmas 🎄 Party and Advent Play takes place on the 6th December. Our current and past children partake in this event. Our staff and children have started to practice and prepare for the Advent play, costumes and props are being made. The spirit of joy and excitement is amidst us.
Christmas is indeed a time to give, to spoil and to light up the hearts and eyes of all children.
We will therefore be treating our children with candy jars, Santa shoe boxes and a special lunch. The lunch will include a veggie burger, chips and a juice.
For more info or if you would like to donate towards the above, kindly contact Maya. Details on poster below.
C**T Educare is a project of Ananda Kutir Ashram and the principles and teachings of Integral yoga form the foundation of the Educare.
The staff of C**T imbibe the teachings of Yoga which is a Universal science.
HOW DOES THE ASHRAMA OPERATE?
The Ananda Kutir Ashrama is a Non-Profit Organisation, which was founded by Mother Yogeshwari and Swami Parvathiananda to share the teachings of Integral Yoga. The ashrama provides the opportunity to learn and practice all aspects of yoga.
Besides offering various programmes, the ashrama also provides the space for Karma Yoga: selfless service in the spirit of Yoga. Hence almost all work in the ashrama is done on a voluntary basis. Apart from the bookkeeper, cleaner and the gardener, all work is done voluntarily. This also includes the teachers, receptionists, cooking and gardening. The residents of the ashram (ashramites) also offer all work as Karma Yoga, although they are entitled to a small stipend of R700 a month for personal expenses.
The vision that Mother Yogeshwari and Swami Parvathiananda had (and still have) is that friends can participate in any form of service. Anyone who wishes to practice Karma Yoga at the ashrama can do so. Please contact Swami Vidyananda at [email protected] if you have this wish.
Initially, Mother Yogeshwari and Swami Parvathiananda wished that the ashrama should operate on a donation-basis only, as they wished to offer their services without seeking any personal profit. However, the ashrama itself requires considerable funding to cover all basic costs of running an organisation. Hence a fee structure was required for yoga classes, courses and workshops. These fees and donations sustain the ashrama financially. Swami Parvathiananda, ashramites, trustees and committee members are grateful to all for their ongoing support.
A family that prays together stays together.

Children are about to enter the class which was decorated fir them.
Our Spring Festival was beautifully led by our staff Juliet, Ntombie and Imaan. There was a feeling of warmth, peace and new beginnings.
This touched the heart and soul of the children who listened so attentively during story time, sang songs related to the season of Spring and ate in silence.
The class was decorated and when they entered, they just embraced all the decorations with their senses.
Yesterday our grandparents attended an event hosted by City of Cape Town with our Ward Councillor, Mr Mark Kleinsmidt.
It was an opportunity to socialise and ofcourse be treated.
As we enter the Season of Spring, our children engage in craft activities using recycled materials to make flowers, trees and insects.
The classroom is looking colorful and reflects the fields of flowers amidst us.
The class is decorated in preparation for our Spring Festival which takes place today.

Inspired to Serve – Children of Light Educare This month Children of Light Educare (C**T) in collaboration with Cape Town Hindu Seva Samaj distributed 600 meals to our children and their families in two of our communities in Athlone. This has grown from the initial soup seva that was launched in 2017 in celebration of the 50 years of community....
A successful day. Today we stood in the queue at Home Affairs to make applications for parent ID'S and Birth certificate applications for 4 of our children. These parents do not have the confidence to follow through this process on their own.
Child is the curriculum guides our actions to do what is required for the child.
Standing in the queue at 5am got us 2nd place in the queue and ID'S can be collected in two weeks.
This is a positive step forward for our parents. They will be able to apply for a social grant and meet criteria for school applications for their children. 💪
Our children went on two outings this term. A time to experience nature, animals, climb trees, draw up the courage to sit on a horse, overcome fears and allow for free unrestricted play. Currently we are telling them a story about squirrels and a visit to The Cape Town Gardens was most suitable to see squirrels as it would be a first time for all our children.
Learning brought to life, the classroom is beyond the walls of our Educare.
Today, our soup seva project, a joint initiative with Cape Town Hindu Seva Samaj was filled with fun, joy, love and showers of blessings as it poured of rain as soon as we began to serve the soup. We served 600 parcels of bread, fruit and cup of soup to two communities.
We are getting ready for our soup seva project tomorrow. A joint project between C**T and CTHSS. We will be meeting at Samaj Centre at 7am tomorrow morning to prepare soup and sandwiches for 600 persons. An opportunity to serve the children and their families of 2 communities.

The House of Love – Children of Light Educare It is an incredibly difficult task to even attempt to put into words the magic of the Children of Light Educare, however upon the request of the head and heart behind the magic I knew I couldn’t refuse. I sat for a couple of hours in quiet contemplation, and every sentence I wrote seemed in some w...
Our latest wish list. 🌹
On Saturday, 12th August C**T hosted a Brunch fundraiser with the intention to raise much needed funds and share the C**T story.
It was indeed a huge success. Our amazing and committed organising team did a splendid job. The food by Kupuchka was excellent, we also held an auction which was a success and indeed very entertaining. We are most grateful to all our supporters who sponsored items, bought tickets and donated towards our event.
Love and blessings to all.🌹
