On Wednesday the mobile Science centre came to visit our school. We learnt so much, but the explosion was the best! Here the Foundation Phase are enjoying the demonstration.
Kommetjie Primary is very proud to have so many of our students Dancing in the Nutcracker ballet at Artscape. We wish Thomas La Grange from Natalie Lissack Ballet and Emma Louw, Josie Louw, Skye Trengove & Maya Trengove from Ilze Louw Ballet all the best for their upcoming performances. We hope you enjoy every moment.

On 1 and 2 December, our school hosted our interhouse field and track events. After loads of excitement, determination and fun Orange team managed to win this year. Well done to both teams- you are all super stars!

Our school has been doing the annual swimathon this week, despite wind and rain! Our grade 7 learners were there every step of the way, supporting and encouraging the younger learners to get to the other side safely. Thank you grade 7's and well done to the children who swam their hearts out! Thank you to all the parents who sponsored children.

On Tuesday the Green and Orange teams competed for the sought after " Golden Wheel Trophy" for go kart racing. We had loads of fun and the Green team won this year. Well done Green!! 🏆
Last week the Grade 3 class experienced what a Victorian classroom would have been like. This outing was linked to our theme ‘How people lived long ago’. They thoroughly enjoyed dressing up and role playing their parts. Many children wanted to go back the following day!

All Things Earthly is opening a NEW STORE on Saturday 3 September at Neighbourhood Farm Kommetjie Primary School. You are invited! We couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity to grow All Things Earthly and meet new lovely people in Kommetjie. Our Kommetjie store will have a larger focus on fresh produce, while still offering on-shelf favourites.
We are taking over the shop so that neighbourhood farm can focus on the farming and we do the selling. We will still stock their vegetables and so in that way it is a great collaboration.
We look forward to seeing you in the shop.
It was our Winter sports day today and we were holding thumbs that the rain would stay away for the morning. We had a wonderful day, full of sunshine and fun. Thank you to the staff, coaches,parents, children and the community for your help and support! A great time was had by all!
Thomas Le Grange, currently in Gr 5, is participating in his second ballet show at the Artscape theatre in Cape Town.
Last year they performed Peter Pan and the current show is Romeo and Juliet, which features international dancers, as well as a live orchestra. Well done Thomas! You are a star and we are very proud of you!

⚽️ 🏀 🏆 🏄 Kommetjie Primary sports teams got off to a fantastic start this term. Our Kommetjie A and B surfing team retain their 1st and 3rd positions in the Schools league. On the courts the netball girls have played against Bay Primary and Paul Greyling. The U12 and U13 girls have been unbeaten since May.
Our soccer teams are on top form this week after playing away at Wescott. Most games were won. Our Soccer girls played St Joseph’s and won 3-1.
Well done to our cross country runners who ran at Heathfield this past Friday. One of our runners achieved 1st place and another 5th!
It is wonderful to see our children happy and thriving outdoors. A massive shout out of appreciation to our dedicated coaches and parents for all their efforts.

Earlier this year, KPS took some time out from our normal lessons to generate some fresh promotional material for our school. The results have been fabulous and we had lots of fun putting it together. Thank you to our parents (Alan van Gysen and Karin Schermbrucker) and Will Bendix, for all the wonderful footage. We hope you like it as much as we do.
On Friday, 22 July, the whole school participated in a beach clean up for Mandela. The learners enjoyed getting outdoors for a morning of environmental activities facilitated by Nature Connect.
Meet Dylan Letsape and Shineze Van Rooyen who joined our team in April 2022 as part of the Presidential Youth Program. They will be helping us and learning on the job until September 2022.
The Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI), implemented as the Basic Education Employment Initiative (BEEI) across all nine provinces has succeeded in the reduction of youth unemployment in the country.

Today our grade 1 and 2 classes visited the Neighbourhood Farm as part of them learning about healthy foods in their Life Skills curriculum. We had so much fun!
Our grade 7 class are starting their exams soon and their teacher, Mr Swindale, decided that they needed a bonding and team building camp. They slept in the hall and did survival skills with Mark Voges. They then went on a treasure hunt inside the school. They even watched the sunrise from the beach. Thank you to Ms Du Toit for your assistance. What an incredible, caring little school!
