We are technically a day late but excuse us, we were braaing! Happy Heritage Day to all our knights, their families and our greater community. There are many things that we love about BMDHS but the fact that our school is an accepting, peaceful and loving melting pot of cultures is probably one of the top reasons!

This past weekend, we hosted our second annual uKnight Rugby Sevens tournament. Friday was the perfect start, blessing us with blue skies and vibrant energy as our players and spectators made their way onto our grounds to start the weekend off. Despite the typically cold and wet winter weather on Saturday, the players brought the heat and showed everyone what they were made of. Three of our home teams made it into the final rounds, but victory was not meant to be ours. However, we would like to congratulate all winners on their well-deserved triumph. It was an absolute pleasure to host all the schools and clubs that joined us, and we look forward to welcoming them - and others - again next year.
We would also like to thank our sponsors and partners for contributing to the success of the day. IIE Varsity College, Motus Ford, Realtor of Excellence Bothasig and Surrounds, Centurion Academy Tygervalley Campus, Sempre Espresso, Taste and See Food Services, SuperSport Schools, District Group ensured that all elements of the day were seen to. To our community and supporters from near and far, thank you for backing your players!
The winners of the tournament are as follows:
u19 Cup winner: Hamiltons RFC
Runner up: Connect Knights
u19 Plate winner: The Settlers High School
u16 Cup winner: Kasselsvlei High School
Runner up: Connect Knights
u16 Plate winner: Zandvliet High School
Girls Cup winner: NTK Rugby Club
Runner up: Scottsville High School
Girls Plate winner: Siphumelela High School

After an exceptional year, our winter sport season officially came to an end this week. Congratulations to the u19B netball girls and the u15 and u16 rugby boys, who won their matches against Melkbosstrand High School. Even though the scoreboards did not tip in the favour of our first teams this time, we are proud of our Knights for showing continued dedication, passion and sportsmanship. We would once again like to say thank you to every player, supporter, coach and sponsor for contributing to our success. We look forward to the upcoming sevens tournaments and the 2024 season.

We really weren't jesting when we said August is a month of celebration. We have four more birthdays to commemorate and would like to wish Ms le Roux, Mr Aylward, Ms Coetzee and Ms Ford a very happy birthday! We hope that the next year will be filled with an abundance of blessings and be just as awesome as they are!

There are many joys in education, but there is one that is extra sweet ...
Alfred Chirwa, Class of 2018, returned to our halls and classrooms as he joined us for his teaching practical these past couple of weeks. He flourishes - as in the past - in Maths and Science, and impressed teachers and students alike with his knowledge and ability to convey it to our students. We wish him all the best on this fulfilling journey and who knows, perhaps BMDHS will welcome him as Mr Chriwa one day!

Join us for our last home game of the season! It's been one the best years for rugby and we invite you to come and celebrate with us. The fires will be burning as always.

We’re putting up a show … and you’re invited! Join us this Wednesday for Knights got Knack. Tickets will be sold at the door.

The reasons to celebrate continue! Not only has the strike been mediated, but we also have another stunning issue of the uKnight to share with you! Enjoy it at your leisure by following the link below.

August is a month full of celebration at BMDHS. We have a total of six birthdays and many exciting events and matches but for now, we would like to extend our sincere well-wishes to Ms Madonsela and Mr Barnes for their birthdays earlier this month, but also introduce our August value: commitment. However, our learners and teachers are no strangers to this concept. Even through the current dire state of affairs, they are showing their dedication to education. Knights, we salute you - keep on keeping on!

Today we celebrate the phenomenal women who fill our lives. Your resilience, kindness and empathy are superpowers that have changed the world - and which will continue to do so!

We were blessed with another stunning day and could properly celebrate our new kit! We had a phenomenal time with our sponsors, competitors, partners, family and friends. Thank you to everyone for contributing to the success of this day and for empowering our knights!

We will be debuting our new rugby kit this weekend as we face Somerset College so come and join us as we celebrate our wonderful sponsors and our talented players. With the end of the recent u20 Rugby World Cup, our guests, the Georgian team, kindly left us a token of their appreciation. Behold our shiny new scrum machine! We're super thankful for this wonderful piece of equipment and look forward to using it! Thank you to the u20Legacy programme and WP Rugby for affording us some wonderful opportunities these past couple of weeks.

As we celebrate Nelson Mandela Day today, it also sets the perfect tone for the start of Term 3. Our core value for this term is LOYALTY, with COMPASSION as the focus value for July. Our beloved leader and father-of-the-nation has set a beautiful example of compassion in action. Let us endeavour to live with understanding and kindness to make the world a better place for all!

Our Knights are returning to the castle tomorrow for the third term. It’s business as usual and we can’t wait for all the exciting things to come!

Just before school closed, our Knights were treated to a special visit from Dr Ebrahim Samodien - an accomplished researcher, science writer and author. He recently published his second novel, Dr Mars, and came to share his story with our book club. We would like to thank him for taking the time to with us in an effort to promote reading.

What a great initiative to develop our children!

Our growth and success would be nothing without the support and involvement of our community. We are ever so grateful to Mr Mike Smith, a proud Knight parent and supporter, for the generous donation of rugby balls for our players to stay on top of their game!

School may be out but our grounds are still bustling with activity! We had a GREAT weekend thanks to the u20Legacy programme! Our Knights went to watch the Junior Boks’ first game (🇿🇦33 - 23🇬🇪) on Saturday and we then welcomed the Saffa team to our school for an interactive training session on Sunday. We’ll be backing our boys all the way! We would also like to thank Skyloe Construction for their generous sponsorship of custom made t-shirts for our Knights and Connect Academy players.

Don’t forget about the interactive training session with the u20 Springbok team this afternoon between 14.00 and 16.00. Bring the whole family and show some love for our boys after their win against Georgia last night!
Happy holiday, Knights! We hope you’ll have a lovely break after all your hard work this term.
