"So many of us were raised on a diet of shame and punishment. In order to preserve attachment with our caregivers we were forced to hide our sadness and anger as part of self-preservation. Then when our child shows those same emotions, the child in us goes into protection mode— it doesn’t feel safe and we do almost anything to avoid the discomfort that arises." - Institute of Child Psychology

"The holidays are rough for our sensory avoiders! Something to think about at Thanksgiving dinners, holiday events, and shopping this week: crowded spaces, new foods, noisy places, scratchy sweaters, long car rides, busy places...it's a LOT!"

A few pictures capturing the conscious art work of our madressa learners, during their weekly extra mural lessons, as they shared their thoughts and hearts on topics that are important to them.
Children drew and shared their interpretation of things they were grateful for and how to be a good person.
We're proud to say they just reaffirmed that they are in fact all kind and considerate little human beings! 💚🤲

Learners enjoyed an interesting and fun talk, this past week, by the dentist as she shared her knowledge about oral hygiene and healthy habits. Each learner received a little gift from the dentist to encourage good oral hygiene habits.🦷🍎

Some more randoms of our WonderKids 😍
Friends aren’t just for minutes,
for hours or for days.
They’re not just for weekends,
or fun holidays.
Friends aren’t just for evenings,
for a dinner or two.
Friends aren’t just for company
when there’s nothing to do.
Friends aren’t just for good times,
or even for bad.
Friends aren’t just for cheering me up
when I’m sad.
Friends are there at the beginning,
and stay ‘til the end.
So, on each page of my diary,
you’ll find the word “friend”
