Our second Blood Donation Clinic for the year was held last week Tuesday in the Webster Auditorium.

We had new 15 donors attend and 38 existing donors. In total 53 pints of blood were donated. A number of our regular donors were unfortunately not well enough to donate this time.

Justine Theys and her team did a great job in managing the smooth running of the clinic and were highly complimented by the team from WCBS. Thank you to all who donated and for potentially saving 3 lives.

This year’s Box Cart Fundraiser event was definitely one for the books!

Prizes were awarded to a class in each Grade who completed the most laps in 15 minutes. Spot prizes were awarded for the Best Dressed Groups and Best Spirit.

A new category was added this year namely “Best Driver”. This went to a Grade 8 & 9 learner. These youngsters were simply master drivers.

We were completely overwhelmed with all the donations received for the sandwich project. Thank you to all parents and learners for your generosity ❤️

On Monday 22 April, close to 400 learners, staff and parents gathered in the Hobbs Hall after school to make sandwiches for learners from disadvantaged schools who were going to attend the Suid-Ooster fees at Artscape. At one point we had to work in shifts as so many learners wanted to be involved.

The target was 1200 food packs and we made 1350 packs (sandwich, lollipop and niknaks) and 460 additional sandwiches in just over 1 hour. Another sponsor provided an apple and juice for each learner.

The schools media team and resident DJ, Jayden Mawson kept the music coming during the afternoon and helped create a great vibe.

Thank you again to all those who donated, made sandwiches, packed and counted the sandwiches- A huge THANK YOU. What a successful project!

The Settlers High School community is deeply saddened by the untimely passing of our School Secretary, Mrs Norma van der Merwe, due to cancer on 23 March 2024.

Having joined our school in 1990, she became a presence in the front office and played a huge part in the lives of generations of learners and teachers. Her calm demeanour and courteous and friendly nature endeared her to one and all, and her sudden absence leaves a gaping void in the hearts of all who knew her.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to her children and grandchildren who are deeply pained by the finality of her passing. She will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched with her kindness that knew no bounds.

On Saturday, 16th March, TSHS Dance Performance Group had the privilege of forming part of the line up at this year’s Cape Town Carnival street Parade.

The carnival saw 25000 spectators surrounding the Fan Walk in Green Point to watch more than 1400 performers, displays of art, community, cultural diversity, and creativity.

The learners were able to meet and connect with other talents from the Cape Metropolitan which exposed them to a lot more diversity as the carnival consisted of a variety of different performers such as YoungstaCPT who performed alongside the Settlers learners in the same POD.

The theme for 2024 was Lekker, and indeed it was!
