World Autism Awareness

Today, April 2nd, is World Autism Awareness Day, a day when we come together to recognize and celebrate the unique contributions of autistic individuals. As a member of this incredible community, I want to express my gratitude and share some thoughts.
1. Transformation and Acceptance: We’ve come a long way in understanding autism. Instead of focusing on “curing” or “converting,” we now emphasize acceptance, support, and inclusion. This shift in narrative allows us to recognize the dignity and self-esteem of autistic people. We are valued members of our families, schools, and societies.
2. Our Contributions: Autistic individuals contribute significantly to the world. Whether it’s at home, in the workplace, through artistic expression, or in policymaking, our unique perspectives enrich society. Let’s celebrate these contributions today and every day.
3. Challenges and Resilience: Despite progress, we still face challenges. Discrimination persists, and awareness levels vary across countries. Additionally, disruptions to routines (like pandemics) affect us deeply. But our resilience shines through, and we continue to thrive.
4. Join the Conversation: I encourage everyone to participate in the different webinars and events happening globally and at home. This is Sustainable Development Goals, and the path forward.
