On this day 15 years ago, 1 Dec 2007, on stage with Nelson Mandela at his 46664 concert at Ellis Park for International World AIDS Day. Besides performing, it was great to share the same rarified air as Peter Gabriel, Live, Goo Goo Dolls, Angelique Kidjo and Ard Matthews to name a few. I always wanted to play Ellis Park & I managed to do it without having to tackle anyone!

2012 performing with Johnny Clegg at the . Not sure if I've played in a venue more grandeur! We were super lucky to be put up in the Fairmont Monte Carlo on the famous needle-bend of the Monaco GP!

One of the top 5 gigs I've ever seen, was this one by the Richard Galliano Trio in Tulle, France in September 2010 at The Nuits de Nacre festival, which celebrates all things accordion, piano accordion and concertina . The musicality, virtuosity and connection with the audience was on another level.

The Nuits de Nacre Festival was incredible - there are about 60 concerts in 3 days, all to do with the accordion. The reason we were there, is because of the Zulu concertina, which Johnny Clegg used in his songs such as Malonjeni and I Call Your Name, for example. It's amazing how the instrument has spread around the world and use to express so many different types of cultures. I'd love to return this festival one day and I highly recommend anyone visiting France to check it out!

You can check out my composition using the great Stanislav Angelov on accordion on my song, Confit de Canard on all digital streaming platforms!

Learning to play music is like learning to play a game. Initially you’re intrigued and you want to join in, but you don't have the rules or you don't have the skills. So how do you become a player?

Reading helps you go from spectator to partaker and turn solo into symphony.

If you want to learn or study music, there seem to be unlimited options, but all with limitations. Too far. Too expensive. Too rigid, or too loose. Good for only one instrument, or one musical style, or one level of proficiency. Accomplished here, but incomplete there.

The eAr Academy offers courses that are comprehensive and connected, designed to develop well-rounded musicians by including and integrating seven complementary facets of music: Tunes, Etudes, Exercises, Reading, Improvisation, Hearing, and Theory.
