For me, yoga teacher training should be a slow burn. A real opportunity to more deeply understand these ancient teachings and then to share these teachings with others in a way that is authentic, that honours the teachings and is accordance with Patanjali’s 8 Limbs of Yoga.

Happy International No Diet Day everyone! Today is not just the only day not to diet (that's everyday!!) but an annual celebration of body acceptance, including fat acceptance and body shape diversity. It's also a day to build awareness around the harms of dieting, pursuit of weight loss, and weight stigma.
This isn't a new celebration, it's origins go way back into the 1970's when the first activists started speaking out about the harms of dieting alongside promoting body acceptance, for ALL bodies not just *some* bodies. We stand on the shoulders of giants, and pay due respect to the many, many people who have done the labour to make our work possible today, including YOU (thankyou!)
Each day this week, in celebrating of No Diet Day, I'll be posting ways in which you can step away from diet mentality and back into an unapologetic life where you have fully-informed choice over how you feed, move and treat your body.

Yes yes yes. Enjoy yourself
You never, ever have to "make up" for food that you've eaten. You are allowed to enjoy foods, and eating occasions without getting sucked down the drain of guilt and shame. Giving yourself permission to eat from a place of attunement (which means paying attention to the comfort level of your body) you'll be in a much better position to move from one meal to the next more calmly. It's doesn't mean we won't all over-do it or totally lose our s**t at times (and that's fine too), but one of the most common behaviours people get drawn into this time of year is turning themselves into stressed-out human calculators.
You are not a calculator. You are a human (just a reminder!)

This is my approach at Fi McKenzie Yoga. As the breath is the bridge between the body and the mind, notice your breath and let it teach you.
"Always when you practice ask yourself "can I breathe fully and freely in this pose? Is my breath dominating?"

This is fascinating, and certainly something we experience when we practice mindfulness- based yoga, meditation or as mindful moments in life. Feeling sad or angry or flat is just as it is, it does not need to be judged or changed. Happiness is not some end-goal.

Seed Yoga + Wellness is so excited to offer a nourishing and supportive space for pregnant women to come together and share in the magic of Prenatal Yoga.
On the fourth Saturday of every month a specially crafted two hour workshop will be offered to give pregnant women the opportunity to explore the power of breath, relaxation techniques, an empowering asana practice and time to connect and share experiences with one another over a herbal tea.
These sessions will be led by Seed Yoga's highly qualified and experienced prenatal yoga teacher and mumma, Sarah Jury.

Yes, this 👍. Body positivity is yoga! Being Body Positive is about accepting yourself, not needing to prove or change yourself. Weight loss does not equal greater self esteem or worthiness. You are already worthy of self love and being loved by others. Some TV shows would have you believe you need to be 'bikini ready' or a certain weight to look beautiful in a wedding dress. You already are! It's BS! B.S.

Tonight, I was fortunate to practice vinyasa yoga 'in the vines' with Ginger Ki Yoga in Bright again. Followed by wine, cheese and a beautiful sangha. How lucky is that? Oh, and sunset. Yeah, pretty awesome.
