I have no birth, no death, and no duties. I have never done anything either good or bad. I am purely Brahman the Absolute beyond all qualities. How could either the bo***ge or the liberation exists for me ? If God is all pervading, immovable, whole, without any parts, then there is no division in this God at all. How then, could he be regarded as within or even without ? The whole universe is shining as one, without any split or break, or separate parts. The idea of Maya, the great illusion, is itself the great delusion. Duality and non-duality are really concepts of the mind. The world of form and the formless void, neither of these exists independently. In the One, there is neither separation nor union. Truly there is nothing but Shiva-consciousness alone.
I have no mother, or father, or brother. I have no wife, or husband or son, or friend. I have no attachments or non-attachments. How then, do you justify this anxiety of mind. Oh mind ! There is neither the day of manifestation nor the night of dissolution. My continuous light neither rises nor sets. How could a wise man sincerely believe that the formless existence is affected by forms ? It is not undivided, nor is it divided. It experiences neither sorrow, nor joy. It is not the universe, nor is it not the universe. Understand that the Self is eternally One. ~From the Advahuta Gita

Truth has to be said as it is. The moment you compromise, the moment you bring truth to the ordinary level of human consciousness, it loses its soul, it becomes superficial, it becomes a dead thing. You cannot bring truth to the level of human beings; human beings have to be led to the level of truth. -Osho

Right now, as this is being read, if you allow yourself to settle, you will begin to notice that there is an awareness of these words being read. There is an awareness of the space within the room. Sounds, thoughts, sensations all can be noticed. And if you stay in this sense of awareness, you will also notice that that principle which is aware is not what is engaging in these activities. The awareness itself is not what is reading these words, it is simply aware of the act of reading taking place. The practice, therefore, becomes to allow yourself to stay in this space of awareness as much as possible. This awareness is aware of even the act of witnessing and non witnessing itself.~Agnisattva

True Love of God cannot be another worldly transaction: "by loving God, may I get spiritual realization." No. To love God is simply to Love. The only answer to the question: "why do you love?" Is: "I don't know, I just do." ~Agnisattva

Once Rama asked Hanuman, "how do you look on Me?" Hanuman replied: "O Rama, as long as I have this feeling of 'I', I see that Thou art the whole. And I am the part; Thou art the Master and I am Thy servant. But when, O Rama, I have the knowledge of Truth, then I realize that Thou art I, and I am Thou. ~from the gospel of Sri Ramakrishna

it permeates every particle of my being.
I am living in that light.

Questioner: Is it enough to merely remember that our true nature is already one with “That?”

Agnisattva: Although this sounds good, it is actually just another conceptual trap. You cannot “remember” what you are in the usual way that those words are used, you can only remember to be something that you are not. Only someone who feels that they are not already a good doctor will try to convince themselves that they are. But this “remembering” is still rooted in the belief that they are not already that which they are trying to remember.

So, what begins to happen is you will reinforce the belief (false albeit) that you are not already “That.” You do not need to remember that you are the Self. That you are already. If the need to remember is still there, you need to see and root out that which is still believing in the opposite. There is no distance between what you currently take yourself to be and “That.” The sense of distance, the sense of having to do something to get there is the delusion itself. For it is not true. You can never become the Self. You can never go from being “not the Self” to “The Self” as if it is some kind of achievement handed out by the universe after many hard years of meditation.

Paradoxically, for some, it might take many years of meditation. Not because it is a requirement, but solely for the reason that the false sense of identity refuses to go. So many still believe that their current sense of “I” which is seeking the Self is the same “I” that will find it. And this is a fundamental misconception. You, as you are now, will never discover the Self. For you, as you are now, do not exist. What you currently take yourself to be is merely a conglomerate of thoughts and experiences. Yet, what is behind all of it, what has been present since time immemorial and is present even here, even now is verily “That.” “That” which you are looking for is not something you can find, instead when the you who is looking is gone,
“That” is all that remains. ~Agnisattva

Questioner: I am very attracted to chanting mantras, but there are so many mantras out there and everyone says that their mantra is the best and most effective. Is there a best and most effective mantra?

Agnisattva: The greatest, the most powerful mantra, the true Maha Mantra is the one given to you by your Guru, your spiritual teacher. For even those who say that their mantra is best are saying so because it is the mantra that was given to them or the mantra of their particular tradition. Even in some Christian traditions the use of mantras is present which for them is as powerful as can be. Worry not about what others say is the best mantra but trust that the mantra given to you is the greatest. And if a mantra has not be given to you, go towards that mantra that truly pulls you. That sacred sound that truly sets your heart aflame. For every one is different. The key that unlocks one door will not necessarily unlock all. ~Agnisattva

True spirituality cannot come from a place of escapism, but must come from a place of gratitude. We seek God not for Him to fix our life, but we seek God to give thanks for having received a life.

Effortless and choiceless awareness is our real nature. If we can attain it or be in that state, it is all right. But one cannot reach it without effort, the effort of deliberate meditation. All the age-long vasanas carry the mind outward and turn it to external objects. All such thoughts have to be given up and the mind turned inward. For that, effort is necessary for most people. ~ Sri Ramana Maharshi

God is a tricky bastard.
Ha, like a beautiful damsel playing hard to get.
A cosmic st******se in the night of the soul.
Merely igniting a yearning that lovers rarely feel.
Sit within your Silence and you will discover that it never ends. It is of unfathomable depths. Before Him, all the great masters are mere teething babies before the cosmic Queen.
To think that we try to speak of Her in words.
HA! Fools we are. Fools indeed.
But the Holy Queen, Her compassion, her Love, lets us play our feeble roles.
When God touches your heart how can we continue to speak when the bumblebee’s discourse makes the Bhagavad Gita appear like crayon scribble in an afternoon daycare?
The mind cannot grasp this anymore than a blind, deaf and dumb person can understand the harmonies of a Mozart Violin Concerto.
Oh, the hell with you O, mind.
When God touches you, touch back.
Let Him orchestrate your Life.~Agnisattva

Questioner: If I desire to eliminate all desires, then there is a remaining desire. So, now I must have a new desire to eliminate that desire. Thus, it seems that this goal is unattainable. Is there anything that can be done?

Agnisattva: The very one who is asking this question, that one must go. For that voice is not true. The question itself reeks of the mind, reeks of ‘ego’ for the one who is asking the question is the very one who does not want this question answered. For to “answer” this question is “death” to the questioner itself.

Desire can only be there when a sense of individual “I” is still pulsating within the being. There can exist no desire apart from this sense of individual “I.”

Allowing oneself to become trapped within the realm of endless philosophical questions and speculations, although useful at times, is the trap of the very mind one is trying to free oneself from. For the “being” is not asking these questions for these questions do not apply to “IT.”

These questions arise as a way for the ‘ego mind’ to keep the “being” in a state of delusion and bo***ge. For these questions arise only after an attempt has been made to see through the veil of false identification with the “body -mind.” So threatened does this system of identification become that highly philosophical questions, that from a purely logical standpoint make sense, are thrown your way to essentially distract you and hold you back.

What must be recognized is that the questioner itself is the trap. The seeker itself is the bo***ge. For it is this very seeker that is the false identification. To be a “seeker” is to eternally be a “seeker.” For to keep up the identification as a “seeker” is to keep an “imagine goal” away from you. You cannot be a “seeker” and “fully realized” together, for to hold on to the identification of a “seeker” is to keep yourself in a state of perpetual bo***ge. There comes a point when the very “seeker” itself is dropped. For this is the trap, seeking something that you already are. ~Agnisattva

Questioner: Can you guide me through something with your pointings?

Agnisattva: With what do you feel you need guiding?

Questioner: Okay! So, it's like I keep switching between presence to person and this thing makes me depressed.

Agnisattva:In Truth you never switch between Presence and person for Presence is what you are. That which switches is not the presence but merely the idea you have of presence. Is not this switch perceived by the Presence that you Are?
Depression comes because the person wants to become Presence and this cannot happen. In Presence, the person is seen for what it is: dew drops before the morning sun.

The Christian Prayer, “The Lord’s Prayer,” begins with the words:
“Our Father”
Within these first two words, not only is our relationship with the God given, but also our relationship with our fellow Human brothers and sisters clearly stated. For what is a Father? Or, on a broader level, what is a parent? The word can be defined purely in its material sense as someone who has given birth to us in which we share a part of their genetic makeup. But of course, as anyone who has been raised with those who were not their biological parents will tell you, a parent is much much more than simply a vehicle from which we have acquired half of our genetic makeup. A parent represents guardianship. A parent represents unconditional love. A parent personifies the true meaning of what it means to be selfless, to be without ego. For to place another before themselves, namely their children, and literally do whatever it is in their power to insure that their child not only has a good life, but an even better life than they themselves have had, is as close to a human representation of egoless as you can possibly imagine.
Yet, unfortunately, their are exceptions to this, which may very well explain why those who are brought up within families that do not exhibit the basic essence of what it means to be a parent tend to have much difficulties adapting and living within the world.
From another angle, what is the relationship of a child to its parents? It is one of unconditional trust. It is of feeling absolutely safe and secure. To know that no matter what happens I am not alone, and although things may happen that are painful and difficult, at the end of the day I know that I can rest within the love and security that parents have to offer. So, by referring to God as Father, in referring to God as our parent, the Lord is showing us that this is our relationship with God.
That we are not alone. That when we are experiencing difficulties, when we are experiencing pain we rest in the assurance that there is an energy that is to our benefit. That there is a presence that, especially in moments of silence and stillness, can be felt and is the guiding essence of our very being, and this presence, call it what you will, is none other than God; the Eternal Parent.
Yet, the objection can be stated:
Why do we experience so much pain and hardships if there is a guiding presence within our being that is for our greatest benefit?
As humans, we do not always know what is for our greatest benefit. A child may want to solely indulges in snacks instead of having dinner. And in seeing this the parent will step in and take the snacks away. Of course, for the child this is a great hardship. “Why is this person always taking away my snacks, who do they think they are?” And although from our adult perspective we can see wisdom in the parent’s discipline, from the child’s perspective this will not be fully understood until they mature up to a certain point.
In the same way, we are all still children, of course within various degrees of maturity but children nonetheless, within the eyes of the Divine. Therefore, within the first two words of this prayer it was given to us very clearly the nature of our relationship with God. For just as a child cannot properly grow and develop without the love, comfort, security of its parents, we too cannot fully grow and develop within our spiritual dimension without realizing the love, security and comfort we are still receiving from our Eternal Parent.
Yet, what is even more interesting, which is often the case with prayers and scriptures being that they are so multi-layered, is that not only was the relationship with our Eternal Parent given, but our relationship with our brethren, with those we share this incarnation with clearly given as well.
For this prayer did not start with the words, “My Father,” and it very well could have. We could have been given a prayer where the individual only tries to focus on his own personal relationship with God, but this was not what has come down to us. Instead, what has come down to us were the words; “Our Father.”
So, what is the importance of this? The importance is that in the same way that God is our Eternal Parent God is everyone’s Eternal Parent. All living things, and all non living things, are under the guidance, and protection of this energy.
Looking at this a little bit more deeply, by using the word “Our” the prayer is instructing us as to the way in which we should treat those whom we share this planet with. As anyone who has siblings will attest to, although there may be moments in which you wish to strangle the person, although there may be times when you want to be as far away from them as possible, if they are in need you will still do everything in your power to help them for the simple reason that they are part of your family.
And being part of your family, there is only Love. And Love not in a superficial way, but the type of transcendental Love that occurs when one realizes that this person who is in front of me is related to me. And in being related to me, they are a part of me. And in being a part of me, I cannot but help and extend my hand when needed.
This type of relationship is not about being on perfect terms, but is about recognizing that the same blood that runs through your vain is the same blood that runs through mine. And it is from this understanding that we can exhibit transcendental Love to our families.
The profundity of the Lord’s Prayer, is that from the very first line, we are being told that the relationship we have with our immediate family is the same type of relationship that needs to be extended to all beings that we encounter. That the same transcendental Love we have for our immediate family is the same Love we have for all families for we know that all of us our under the Parental guidance of the Divine. This is not merely a Western idea solely found within Western Scriptures but is as ancient an understanding as humanity itself.
In the Karaniya Metta Sutta, A Buddhist Scripture, Shakyamuni Buddha instructs his followers to meditate as follows:
May all be happy and secure. May all beings become happy in their heart of hearts! And think of every living thing without exception: the weak and the strong, from the smallest to the largest, whether you can see them or not, living nearby or far away, beings living now or yet to arise – may all beings become happy in their heart of hearts! May no one deceive or look down on anyone anywhere, for any reason. Whether through feeling angry or through reacting to someone else, may no one want another to suffer. As strongly as a mother, perhaps risking her life, cherishes her child, her only child, develop an unlimited heart for all beings. Develop an unlimited heart of friendliness for the entire universe, sending metta above, below, and all around, beyond all narrowness, beyond all rivalry, beyond all hatred. Whether you are staying in one place or travelling, sitting down or in bed, in all your waking hours rest in this mindfulness, which is known as like living in heaven right here and now! In this way, you will come to let go of views, be spontaneously ethical, and have perfect Insight. And leaving behind craving for sense pleasures, from the rounds of rebirth you will finally be completely free!
It is by understanding that all living things are intricately connected with us that we can treat them with compassion and Transcendental Love.

The discovery of God is the most simple of simple things for He is none other than your own Self.
It takes no effort to discover Him in the same way that it takes no effort for one's face to be reflected in a mirror.
The discovery of God is your discovery of yourself.
The seeming difficulty is in the refusal to let the thoughts you have about yourself go.
The mind says: "It cannot be this simple..." and the mind is right: its even simpler than this.
Allow yourself to be engulfed by your inner light.
Nothing more is needed or required. ~Agnisattva

God understands you when everyone else misunderstands you. He is the Lover who cherishes you always, no matter what your mistakes. Others give you their affection for a while and then forsake you, but He abandons you never. In countless ways God is daily seeking your Love.

The greatest romance is with the Infinite. You have no idea how beautiful life can be. When you suddenly find God everywhere, when He comes and talks to you and guides you, the romance of Divine Love has begun.

Feel the Love of God; then in every person you will see the face of the Father, the light of Love which is in all. You will find a magic, living relationship uniting the trees, the sky, the stars, all people, and all living things, and you will feel a oneness with them. This is the code of Divine Love.

Giving Love to all, feeling the Love of God, seeing His presence in everyone, and having but one desire - for His constant presence in the temple of your consciousness - that is the way to live in this world.

What religion do you practice? What tradition are you from? Do you belong to an order? Are you a monk?

These questions constantly are thrown my way. The mainstream’s need to fit into a set system of ideas that which they do not yet fully understand.

How can “I” belong to anything when “I” do not exist. There can be no religion, no tradition, no order, no monk hood for “me.” I do not require anything or anyone to give “me” authority. “My” authority comes from no where. Hence it permeates the entire cosmos.

“I Am” simply what “I Am”

“My” lineage is no lineage. The source of all earthly lineages is what is at work here. When one enters fully into the pure stillness that Is this very moment, Is this very being itself, this cosmic lineage reveals itself to you.

When one is ready to release all that is false within themselves and to allow themselves to be burnt away by the pure fire of Silence, a “Cosmic initiation” will take place. This “Initiation” will not give you anything. This “Initiation” won’t even “Be” anything. Simply all that is unreal will fall away. Simply all that is not “you” will fall away. ~Agnisattva

Those who still play the game of exclusion miss the beauty inherent in the play of “two.” Life is All expressions. All beauty, all horror. To deny one aspect is to deny the whole. For to deny a part of Life, incompleteness is there. The task, if there is to be one, is not to run away from Life or to run away from our humanity, but to fully embrace it. For All, even those parts we yet are able to look at, solely come from God.
Good, bad, ugly, beautiful, are merely qualities we impose on Life. Yet, outside of our projections, where are they truly? ~Agnisattva

The spiritual search is not a horizontal journal from point A to point B but can more accurately (being that words must be used) stated as being a vertical journey inward. You (the individualized self) are not to discover the truth about yourself but more accurately you are to realize that there was never a moment when the full perfection of Life itself was not manifested in what you already are. The wave that discovers that it is water has not discovered anything new about itself, but has merely realized that what it was searching for externally was none other than what it already was. ~Agnisattva

That fateful “moment” happened while attempting to mediate.

I just could not bring myself to do it. So distracted and so uncomfortable was I that I was about to leave my room and simply do something else. Looking at the time I thought “you only have ten minutes left, you can stay.”

I moved closer to my altar and merely closed my eyes.

I was neither meditating or not meditating.

I was just sitting there.

Without any special sign or warning, suddenly it became increasingly clear that everything is of the nature of the Divine. That everything is literally God.

Everything.

The soap in bathroom. My strands of loose hair. The meditation seat itself, the mala used during meditation, is none other than God.

What was said throughout the ancient scriptures from time immemorial: “Tat Tvam Asi” “That Thou Art” is pointing not to some state to be gained in the future, but to what you already are. ~Agnisattva
