On September 26, we had the privilege to share space and conversation with Jhannise Vaca Daza, Leopoldo López, and Eric Farnsworth in collaboration with Georgetown University's Latin America & The Caribbean Policy Association and Latin America Leadership Program. We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate in an event with these distinguished panelists, as we continue our efforts towards expanding the conversation on democracy in Latin America and the Caribbean. Thank you to all attendees and event contributors. We look forward to more great events!

Meet Valeria, our 2023-2024 Vice President: Hello! My Name is Valeria and I was born in Lima, Peru but moved to the Northern Virginia area when I was thirteen years old. I did my undergrad at James Madison University and graduated in 2021 with a bachelor's in International Affairs and a minor in Spanish. I am a Spanish Interpreter for Fairfax County Public Schools while doing my master's at GW. My passions include reading, crocheting, baking, and long walks with my dog Toffee. I am excited to be a part of LATAM and hope to be a resource to all our members.

Meet Will Tuggle, our 2023-2024 financial officer: Will Tuggle: I'm an International Affairs major from Atlanta, GA with a regional interest in Latin America & the Caribbean. I speak French, Spanish, Italian, and Arabic, and I enjoy sports, playing baseball, traveling, movies/TV, learning languages, cooking, and everything southern US. At GW, I'm a member of the DPE fraternity, the club baseball team, and many other organizations!

Meet Elizabeth, our 2023-2024 Executive Secretary: Hello! It is my privilege to be the Executive Secretary for LATAM for this school year! I am a sophomore at GW majoring in international affairs. Being from suburban New Jersey, I struggled to find my own Hispanic community and find individuals who had the same interest and passion for Latin America as I did. After only a year, I can truly say my experiences and opportunities have gone beyond my expectations. This year, I look forward to helping my peers discover their own opportunities through LATAM and discuss topics that are close to my heart with my own Mexican-Colombian heritage. I am excited to meet all our members this semester!

Meet Nicoll, our 2023-2024 Co-Graduate Liason: Hola todos! My name is Nicoll! I'm Colombian-American and grew up in Greenville, SC. I lived in Bogotá for 8 years. I'm currently a second-year international development master's degree student. My fields of interest are conflict, culture, and migration. I spend too much money on coffee and books, which is why if you ever need me you can probably find me at a bookstore or coffee shop whenever I'm free.

Meet Mariana, our 2023-2024 Co-Graduate Liason: I am a Brazilian lawyer with 7 years of experience in human rights, LGBTQPNiA+ and gender violence. I am currently a Master's candidate in international development and have a passion for gender issues. I decided to get involved with LATAM to represent the interests of Latin American graduate students, as well as those with an interest in the region. I love podcasts, my native language is Portuguese and I recently resumed my studies in Spanish to improve my speaking fluency.

First we have Camila Lopez our undergraduate liason!
