Hope everyone is having a good 2022 so far! With a new year comes new changes, and UNCSA Alumni West is no different.

A big huge thank you goes out to Daniel Parra who will be passing off the baton of running the UNCSA Film Job Board he created 9 years ago. It has brought over 1,000 students together, and helped many graduates find jobs.

It's also time for me to step down from helping oversee the UNCSA Alumni West group and events. The thought has always been that this is not a permanent job as it is on a 100% volunteer basis, and it's time for me to focus on growing my career and other future plans. I want to thank the ones that came before me, and have helped me including Rebecca Green, Jen Haire, and Kim Ross.

Being able to meet so many graduates in the years I've been a part of UNCSA Alumni West has been exciting and a constant reminder of how lucky we are to do what we love. I hope to continue to stay involved when I can, and be a fly on the wall whenever possible.

I now look forward to seeing what the future holds for this group, and encourage everyone to stay involved and help out if and when you can. This group is only worth the members it has, and those who show up. Good luck to Emily Drake Padgett & Bernardo Porto who will be helping with the transition and looking for new members. Please reach out to them if you are interested.

Thank you again,
Catherine Linebarger (Class of '07)

Former NCSA Film Producing teacher, Steven Jones, passed away yesterday morning leaving behind him many alumni who will forever remember his wit and the fear he bestowed on us from the very first day of film school that "THIS" is now our life. Through tough love and a realistic view on what hard work is, he taught a lot of us things we still use today. He will be missed. He will be remembered. Thank You. Rest in peace Mr. Jones.

Please feel free to share thoughts or perhaps some of your favorite memories below.

UNCSA ALUMNI WEST IS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!

As we are looking at the future and leaving our safe space of zooms and DMs, it's time to refocus, and part of that will be rebuilding the core team that makes up UNCSA Alumni West.

Being a part of the team means producing events, running social media, creating content, and helping bring everyone together. Have an idea? We want to hear about it, and help you execute it.

Ideally, we are looking for people who are passionate about alumni connections and can make at least a year's commitment. Part of that will include attending monthly virtual meetings in which we go over goals and future planning.

We are looking forward to having some new faces bringing creative and unique views as we continue to brainstorm on where UNCSA Alumni West can go.

Have thoughts you want to share, but don't have the time to volunteer? Please feel free to send us a message any time.
