2. Participate in one of these 3 categories: Pre-Tertiary, Undergraduates and Open
3. Prepare to put your coding skills to the test in Mid-October 2019! (Note that you must be physically present in Singapore on the day of the competition, which will be confirmed by August 2019)

"I believe that travel has the power to change ourselves and our world. Each time I have gone somewhere that has challenged me, I have come out of the experience more open-minded and more hopeful about the world. I wanted to make these magical, off-the-beaten path travel experiences more accessible to everyone, and that's why I quit my job at a top law firm in London and came back here to start Seek Sophie.

I decided to build a technology company because it can eradicate a lot of the inefficiencies in the booking process. That meant that I had to learn about technology, partly out of curiosity about how things work, but also to enable me to build a better product. I took a 3-month web development course that was subsidised through the Tech Immersion and Placement Programme (TIPP) and further supported by SkillsFuture Credit. That was incredibly helpful because I was changing careers and not earning for the foreseeable future. The course not only helped me develop my tech skills, it also taught me how to think like a coder which has really helped me in building my own company. When you start coding, you fail way more often than you succeed, so debugging - fixing mistakes and trying again - is a key skill you need. It turns failure into a learning experience that should be overcome rather than feared, which can be very liberating. The same applies to running a business, and to life and career too - they are marathons, not sprints. All you can do is to focus on your own journey and keep improving yourself each day, and like compound interest, the small gains will add up to create a meaningful life."
