Hey ya'll, I'm really excited to be teaching and performing for the first time in years. On June 11th i'll be in Jacksonville, Fl. We'll be at a cozy private residence on the west side so just a handful of spots available. To register or for questions feel free to email or call me. On Saturday June 11th, there will be a beginner/intermediate and an intermediate/advanced workshop, though any skill level is welcome and strongly encouraged to attend both. It is great if you have your own instrument, and a few will be provided for those who don't have one. Concert in the evening. Private lessons available on Sunday.

This year I had the opportunity to play this beautiful F2 Pygmy Pantam by Yishama Instruments. It's depth and character has moved me so much, reminding me how I felt when I first began playing Handpan.
At the same time, I was reading and very inspired by an epic fantasy series called "The Stormlight Archive" 🤓 The main character breathes light, which has always been my experience with these instruments, from the first moment I touched one. The sound feels like liquid light that you can breathe and swim in. I am often moved by the shared similarities between fiction and music. Creating worlds...new possibilities...universes revealed moment by moment...and deep listening.

Today I have a special one for ya'll, dear to my heart! This is a project I have been dreaming of for years. When I first heard a Handpan solo, I immediately heard many Handpans playing together. The goal was to design a set of instruments that play beautifully together, note for note, from very low to very high, intuitive enough for anyone to enjoy playing. This ensemble set is the first part of this vision brought to life, naturally creating lush cascading harmonies and rich chords.

Endless thanks to Jacob Lee of Axiom Handpans for working with me to build these beautiful instruments, and to my amazing students, Mark Burlingame and Nan Ryan. Dreamscape is a combination of structured composition and improvisation. I wrote it in the same notation I created for my lessons and was deeply impressed with my students ability to quickly learn and sight read this piece. At the time of this recording the had only been playing handpan for 10 months 😮 I feel very lucky to have such devoted lovers of this art form in my life. More coming soon 🙂
