**Trolling Motor Operation, In the interest of Safety…High School/Junior Teams: A boat Captain may operate the trolling motor to “Make Safe” the anglers and vessel or in an emergency situation. The Regional JUNIOR Tournaments are “Teaching/Learning” tournaments…if anglers are not familiar with operating a trolling motor TEACH THEM. High School and Junior Teams which qualify to fish at the National Level “MUST” operate the trolling motor.
**Remote controlled trolling motors: Using the remote or cell phone application to control the boat is the same as using the peddle control...
**Boat Captains-
High School Level may not have/handle an anglers catch, any fishing rod or lures during competition hours. Boat captains can net when only 1 angler is in the boat.
Junior Level Boat Captain may assist with tying lures, measuring a catch, clearing backlashes and may net fish (again, it is expected that you teach your anglers as once they reach the next level they must be able to do these actions themselves). **ALL, it is the ANGLERS responsibility to ensure length limits of all fish and number of fish in the livewells. Anglers MUST cull immediately upon catching the 6th fish…no more than 5 fish are to be in the livewell at any given time.
**Anglers will present the days catch to the scales. Once a catch is presented to the scales, the catch may/will be checked as needed by the weigh master. Bass presented for weigh-in, which fail to measure the official length, shall result in a penalty of 1 pound for each such bass, which penalty shall be deducted from the total score of the competitor. Short fish will not be weighed. Dead fish penalty is .25 pounds
**No practicing at night
**Anglers and Captains must be off the water by sunset the day before the tournament
**Late to weigh in penalty: One pound per minute that you are late for your due in time. If you are more than 15 minutes late you are disqualified from the event.
**The chance for inclement weather will always be imminent. We will monitor the forecast with every available option. If a weather system escalates to a point of putting student anglers at risk we will make adjustments. Adjustments could be minimal as a delayed blast off, an early weigh in, or could be as drastic as changing dates or postponement. Student anglers safety is the most important aspect in every decision made!
**Boat Captains may and are encouraged to video and/or take pictures during the competition hours and post them to Facebook or send them to the tournament directors for use on Facebook.
**Anglers are not authorized to use electronic devices (Cell Phone) unless emergencies arise including lunch break.
**All Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency rules must be adhered to at all times. It is the Anglers responsibility to be familiar with and understand TWRA Regulations. If you have a question contact the tournament Director.
**These Regional Tournaments are meant to be a teaching, learning and enjoyable experience. It is the responsibility of all Coaches, School Advisors, Boat Captains and Tournament Officials to teach and ensure good sportsmanship and prepare our anglers for the next level of life and tournament competition.
** No angler will compete by themselves unless they are using a mulligan. This is a team sport.
** All protest will be filed prior to the award presentation on the day of tournament. Failure to report known rule violations the day of tournament will result in disqualification of both the offending team and the failure to report team for next tournament. There is no reason not to be able to produce a good picture or video evidence. Boat captains and anglers who are responsible for proven or unproven rumors or false accusations after completion of tournament will be suspended for the next tournament.
** Partners:
1a. Tennessee Bass Nation High School/Youth tournaments are open only to current members of official Bassmaster high school Teams/Clubs, recognized by said high school or Bassmaster as an official community club. Students must belong to the same official high school club or official community club within the county of residence to compete as a team in this tournament. Multiple clubs from the same institution, including community clubs within the same county (one community club per county), are not allowed. Example of what is allowed Henry County & TN Valley are allowed. Example of what is not allowed: Henery County cannot have two clubs in the same institution. Community clubs can incorporate multiple institutions to include home school students. Students from those institutions must all be members of the same community club. High School students must fish for the school which they would normally attend. If the school does not allow Home School Students to participate in sports, then they will fish for the next nearest school or community club who does, but only after receiving written acknowledgement from their school system declining homeschool students access to sports programs.
1b. Student partner(s) must be members of the same official high school club or community club. In the event a student angler can not be paired with a partner from the official high school or community club, the student angler maybe paired with a partner from the next closest club/team or adjoining county/parish with the written approval of the school/club coaches and state youth director or assistant state youth director. Any/All pairings of anglers outside the above stated rule or pairing across State Lines must have written recommendation/acknowledgement of both Official High School or Community Club Coaches and both State Youth Directors approval from B.A.S.S. TN Bass Nation HS and B.A.S.S. High School reserves the right to accept or deny such a request.
1c. Grandfather Clause: If your county or school does not have an established team you may partner with the next closest team and then your county establishes a team you will be grandfathered to remain. (Example: Grundy County had anglers from Franklin County, those anglers where allowed to remain with Grundy as long as they wanted…but if the angler ever changed to Franklin County they stayed, no moving back)
