Sabbath Scavenger Hunt with a Twist!
Looking for a fun and meaningful way to spend your Sabbath with the family? Look no further than a nature scavenger hunt with a twist! This activity combines getting active outdoors with appreciating God's creation and reflecting on your blessings.
What you'll need:
Paper and pencils (or a reusable notepad)
A sense of adventure!
The Twist:
Instead of searching for specific objects, your clues will focus on finding evidence of God's design and provision in nature.
Sample Clues:
Find something that shows God's power (e.g., a tall tree, a rushing stream).
Find something that shows God's creativity (e.g., a colorful flower, a unique rock formation).
Find something that provides for us (e.g., a fruit tree, a bird building a nest).
Find something that reminds you of God's care (e.g., a cloud formation, a gentle breeze).
Find something that inspires you to praise God (e.g., a beautiful sunset, a chorus of birds singing).
The Activity:
Head to a local park, nature trail, or even your own backyard.
Read the clues together as a family and discuss what you might find.
Work together to search for the evidence described in each clue.
When you find something that matches a clue, discuss how it reflects God's character or provision.
Take some time to reflect on all the amazing things you discovered and give thanks to God for His creation.
Bonus:
Take pictures or collect small natural treasures (like smooth stones or colorful leaves) as reminders of your Sabbath adventure.
After your scavenger hunt, enjoy a family picnic outdoors or read a favorite Bible story together.
Remember:
The focus is on spending quality time together, appreciating nature, and giving thanks to God. So relax, have fun, and enjoy the beauty of the Sabbath!

One of our top NUTRITION TIPS is to “eat the rainbow!” Aim to eat foods of as MANY colors as you can each day. 🍒🍎🍊🍋🍌🍏🥬🫐
The bright color in fruits and vegetables come from PHYTONUTRIENTS, chemicals that actually “fight” 🥊off toxins and free radicals that damage the cells of our bodies.
God has given us a living rainbow of super-power foods, which contain these phytochemicals and antioxidants. Here are some of the benefits from the different colors:
♥️RED: These foods are good for the heart and protect against cancer.
(tomatoes, strawberries, red grapes, raspberries, beets, watermelon, red cabbage, apples, cherries, rhubarb, red peppers, radishes)
🧡ORANGE & 💛YELLOW: Many of these foods contain beta-carotene, which benefits our eyes, bone growth and health of the immune system.
(mango, yellow pepper, apricot, papaya, carrot, sweet potato, oranges)
💚GREEN: These cruciferous veggies are full of powerful, cancer-fighting compounds that are natural cleaners of your cells and help in the wound healing process.
(Kale, broccoli, bok choy, collard greens, mustard greens, arugula, spinach, green peppers, swiss chard, green apples, leeks, romaine, iceberg, cucumber, avocado, grapes, celery, asparagus, brussels sprouts)
💙BLUE, 💜PURPLE & DEEP RED: These contain heart healthy and brain healthy antioxidants that have been shown to inhibit cancer activity such as uncontrollable cell proliferation and reduce inflammation in the body.
(blueberries, red/purple cabbage, eggplant, plums, blackberries, cranberries and purple potatoes)
🤍WHITE: White plant-based foods have been shown to purify the blood, detoxify the liver, regulate healthy cellular growth, and reduce inflammation in the body. Mushrooms are especially beneficial – they’ve been shown to help with cancer, diabetes, allergies, and bacterial infections.
(garlic, onion, apples, scallion, ginger, leeks, cauliflower, white-fleshed sweet potato, potatoes, white cabbage, white beans and mushrooms)
🌿Why is NUTRITION so important to children’s health? Getting the right fuel for our bodies and eating a balanced diet supplies LIFE and STRENGTH to our brain🧠, bones🩻, muscles 💪 and nerves.
Nowadays there’s much information, as well as misinformation, on the subjects of diet, health 🏋🏽♂️and nutrition. We are going to spend a little time talking about super-power foods (eating the rainbow), what foods to avoid, and sharing some recipes and tips! 🍲🍴🍍
God wants us to be healthy and full of his joy! Our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit. May we honor and care for them as He blesses us. 🌟
✋🏽Temperance is a big word and can be a bit tricky to understand the importance of it. It’s synonymous for self-control or self-discipline. Kids who learn self-discipline will be better equipped to face life’s challenges, manage stress, make healthy choices and create a closer walk with God. 🙏 The real question is WHERE DOES SELF-DISCIPLINE COME FROM?? Hint: not from your “self.” Here are two wonderful quotes from ‘Ministry of Healing’ that shares the answer! 🌼
“Feeling the terrible power of temptation, the drawing of desire that leads to indulgence, many a man cries in despair, “I cannot resist evil.” Tell him that he can, that he must resist. He may have been overcome again and again, but it need not be always thus. He is weak in moral power, controlled by the habits of a life of sin. His promises and resolutions are like ropes of sand. The knowledge of his broken promises and forfeited pledges weakens his confidence in his own sincerity and causes him to feel that God cannot accept him or work with his efforts. But he need not despair.” MH 174
“Those who put their trust in Christ are not to be enslaved by any hereditary or cultivated habit or tendency. Instead of being held in bo***ge to the lower nature, they are to rule every appetite and passion. God has not left us to battle with evil in our own finite strength. Whatever may be our inherited or cultivated tendencies to wrong, we can overcome through the power that He is ready to impart.” MH 175 ✨
⚖️Temperance: the quality of moderation or self-restraint🚫; it’s true purpose of being brought into living connection with the infinite God and bringing souls to His kingdom. 💛✨
💦Water is an invaluable life-sustaining force and there are SO MANY amazing benefits to drinking water! But sometimes it is a little challenging to get enough water every day. Especially for children. 🫶
📌Here are a few practical tips to help you stay hydrated! Remember to make it VISIBLE, make it ACCESSIBLE, and make it ATTRACTIVE.😀
💦Tips for drinking WATER:
1. Start your day with a big glass of water before your breakfast.🥱
2. Pick out a water bottle or tumbler that you enjoy drinking out of, something beautiful and functional. 🤩
3. Set a jug of water on your desk each morning.🗓📝
4. Infuse your water by adding your favorite fruits or herbs to make it more flavorful. 🍓🥒🍊
5. Set reminders on your phone to drink throughout the day. 📳
6. Use a straw to make drinking water easier and more enjoyable.🥤
7. Keep water in the car so you are prepared when out of the house.🚘
💦Not only is water essential for life, it has so many AMAZING benefits to help us feel our best! ✨Make sure to drink plenty of water every day and stay hydrated!
Did you know that the amount of water in the human body is roughly 60%⁉️ The percentage can vary from 45-75% depending on age and body type. 💧WATER💧is essential for health and is necessary for numerous bodily functions. 🏃🏽♀️
How much do you drink daily? 💦 Join us this week in our HYDRATION CHALLENGE 🏆 We are going to set a goal this week to increase our water intake and start to feel our best! 🤩
🛌We know that getting a good night’s rest is essential to our health but sometimes it can be a struggle to get children to wind down. 😵💫Having a good ROUTINE is important. When it comes to bedtime, start winding down about 1 hour before your child’s sleep time. ⏰
Here are six tips for a successful bedtime routine:
1. 🗓Be consistent. Kids thrive on routine.
2. Bath time. 🛁🫧Add some Epsom salts with lavender or chamomile essential oils which are calming and provide magnesium.
3. Dim the lights. 💡Melatonin is affected by bright lights. Dim lights and limit screen exposure an hour before bedtime.
4. Listen to quiet and relaxing music. 🎶🎵This can be playing in the background while your child is brushing teeth, reading, etc.
5. Pajama walk under the stars. ✨🌙 Fully prepare for bed, then take a quiet stroll. Fresh air can calm kids before bedtime.
6. Pray together and talk about your favorite part of the day. 🙏💙

Sister White stated that HEALTH is a great treasure 💎 and the richest possession mortals can have.
One of the most important things for our physical and mental health is good sleep. 🌙 It is THE BEST restorer of the nervous system. It rejuvenates us☀️, gives us the ability to focus🎯, strengthens our immune system🦠boosts creativity 🎨 and stabilizes mood, just to name a few amazing benefits. Prioritize sleep for a healthier, happier life!
Sleep is fundamental to our well being. It plays a vital role in cognitive function and emotional stability. This week we are going to be going over some of the amazing benefits from sleep. Are you getting enough sleep, and allowing your body to recharge?!
🌞Sunshine is essential to our health. But sometimes it I can be DIFFICULT to get outside every day… especially if you live in a colder climate. 🥶 Here in Western Washington, we get a lot of cloudy🌧, rainy weather during half of the year. So it is important we get as much sun as we can whenever we have an opportunity! We even go outside on cloudy days because, while clouds do reduce some of the sun’s UV rays, they don’t block all of them.😎 Filtered sun is still a source of vitamin D.
Here is a list of fun ideas to encourage you to get outside and soak up the sun! These activities can be enjoyed during most seasons throughout the year! 🍂❄️🍃🌻
This last week Kesa & I spent some time outside doing a “shadow collage”. It was fun to look at ordinary things from a different perspective and put it into art. We talked about the different directions of sunlight to create different types of shadows. We also talked about how, just like plants need a source of light, we also need God to be our source of light and life. ✨🌟
This week we are talking all about ☀️sunlight and it’s wonderful benefits for our health! Get some fresh air and glorious sunshine this week! 🤩
Exercise is one of the most important things you can do for your health! 🌟Regular physical activity is essential for brain🧠 health, strong bones 🦴 and muscles 💪 , mood and weight management, 🤗 and overall improvement in everyday activities.
It is recommended children and adolescents get 60 minutes of activity daily ⏱. Find ways to make daily activity fun. Make it a family affair. Go on family bike rides or weekend hikes.🥾🚵♀️
The Bible does not ONLY focus on our spiritual growth, but also includes our physical bodies as well.
“…they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31🏅🦅
May your exercise habits be meaningful and keep you FIT and READY for the Kingdom! 🌟
Our amazing Creator designed our bodies to be pretty INCREDIBLE. 💥💪Just like a machine⚙️, having several parts, each with a definite function and yet, together, performing as a whole. He designed our bodies to move: to jump, run, spin, and lift heavy objects! There’s so many benefits to exercising. Moving our bodies helps us feel our BEST! 💯 What is YOUR FAVORITE exercise?! 🚴♀️🏊♀️ ⛹🏽♂️⛷🏄🏻♂️ 🏃🏽♂️Comment below!
💥There are 100 trillion cells in the body and in the blood 🩸and they are all dependent upon OXYGEN, the most essential element to sustain life. Of all the factors to life, Pure Air is the most important. We can survive for weeks without food, and days without water, but only minutes without air. ‼️
Pure, fresh air invigorates the body and has SO MANY health benefits! 💨🍃 If you ever feel tired, worried or stressed, take a moment to do some deep breathing. 🌬 God wants us to feel our best! 🏃🏽♂️💙
🍃
This week we are focusing on the law of oxygen. The health benefits of fresh air are PLENTIFUL! Every cell in your body, and therefore every function in your body, relies upon a constant, fresh stream of OXYGEN. 🌬Breathing in fresh air has many health benefits, including…
🧠Optimal brain function
🏃🏽♂️Increased energy
⚡️Improved digestion
🫁Clean lungs
🛌Better sleep
😬Relieves stress and anxiety
🦠Bolsters immune system

🌟We are EXCITED to begin an amazing 8 week series on the 8 Laws of Health! ⛑Each week we will focus on one of the laws, offering activities and inspiration to help children have a deeper understanding.
In nature we find eight laws that govern the health of our bodies. These laws were provided by God to give our bodies the ability to heal, and to also develop our mind. Following these laws will allow our lives to be blessed with joy and healing of the body, mind, and spirit. The eight laws are very simple, but the benefits are infinite! 🦋
To remember the eight laws, the acronym GOD’S PLAN was created: Godly Trust (G), Oxygen (O), Daily Exercise (D), Sunshine (S), Plenty of Rest (P), Lots of Water (L), Always Temperate (A), and Nutrition (N). 🙏🌬🏃♂️☀️💤💦 ⚖️🥗
This week we are going to talk about Godly trust. 🙏The faith factor is a powerful part of a healthy life and a closer walk with God. Like Peter, who walked on water when he kept his eyes focused on Jesus, we also need to do so. Trusting in God is difficult sometimes but we do so with help from prayer and reading the Word. The Bible is filled with stories of men and women who put their trust in God during difficult times. Spend time reading one together and talk about how you can have faith and trust too!

To many of those living in the cities who have not a spot of green grass to set their feet upon, who year after year have looked out upon filthy courts and narrow alleys, brick walls and pavements and skies clouded with dust and smoke--if these could be taken to some farming district, surrounded with the green fields, the woods and hills and brooks, the clear skies and the fresh, pure air of the country, it would seem almost like heaven.--MH 191, 192 (1905).
