🌟Spotlight Dr. Robert Bies: Excellence in Teaching - GBEL 2025🌟

Dr. Robert Bies, Ph.D., is Professor of Management and Founder of the Executive Master’s in Leadership Program at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.

His research focuses on leadership, the delivery of bad news, organizational justice, and revenge and forgiveness in the workplace. He has published extensively on these topics and related issues in academic journals. Professor Bies’s exceptional teaching has garnered multiple accolades for his contributions at both Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.

Congratulations to the 11th editon of our Georgetown Innovation and Leadership in Government, ! This energetic and committed group of leaders from 13 countries had a week full of thoughtful and dynamic sessions and valuable in-person networking that aims to promote responsible and ethical public leadership and innovation across Latin America and the .

With new analytical frameworks and tools, this cohort joins the alumni network to continue developing and implementing innovative public policies and social initiatives for the common good.

As part of a nourished agenda on and off campus, Georgetown McDonough School of Business Professor Ricardo Ernst, Executive Director of Georgetown University's Latin America Leadership Program (LALP), discussed how shared value can turn companies into engines of change. Meanwhile, Denisse Yanovich, Managing Director at Georgetown Americas Institute presented the institute’s role as a platform for dialogue, research, and impact around the key challenges facing the Latin America and the hemisphere.

Renowned academics, researchers, and guest lecturers Silverio Zebral, Jennifer L. O’Donoghue, Alberto Rodriguez, and Pilar Jerico led provocative, thoughtful, and practical sessions on diverse topics, including , , policy, public policy, and personal and organizational .

The cohort visited the Inter-American Development Bank for a talk with experts Miguel Porrua and Jose Luis Hernandez Carrion on digital government and cyber security. In a conversation with Miriam Kornblith Luisa Guzman Gabriela Dutra and Ondrej Jurk at the National Endowment for Democracy they learned more about the foundation’s work to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the world.

At the culmination of the program, Ricardo Ernst had a fireside chat with distinguish journalist, writer and guest speaker Moisés Naím about , , , and the role of public and private sector in the improvement of Latin America. Dr. Naim just recently published his book "What is Happening to Us: 121 ideas to make sense of the 21st century."

To close the day, Daniel Morales (ILG 2015) was recognized with the ILG Impact Award for his contributions through successful initiatives that foster the entrepreneurship in Ecuador.
