ILG es un programa inmersivo que reúne cada año a un grupo selecto y diverso de líderes latinoamericanos de los sectores público, social, multilateral y de cooperación internacional para avanzar conocimientos, intercambiar ideas y analizar oportunidades de innovación frente a los desafíos más urgentes de la región. Este programa anual otorga a los participantes con herramientas y marcos de referencia analíticos necesarios para la elaboración y ejecución de políticas públicas e iniciativas sociales innovadoras, a la vez que les brinda oportunidades de desarrollo de liderazgo para que puedan fomentar nuevas ideas y programas en sus respectivas organizaciones. Como el Global Competitiveness Leadership Program y el resto de los programas estrella de Georgetown University's Latin America Leadership Program, los participantes admitidos tienen que presentar un proyecto aplicado durante el programa.

tendrá una duración de 6 semanas, del 16 de septiembre al 11 de octubre y del 21 al 25 de octubre de 2024 en formato híbrido: las primeras cuatro semanas, del 16 de septiembre al 11 de octubre, en formato virtual, tres días a la semana (lunes, miércoles y viernes por la mañana), con una semana de receso y preparación de proyectos con mentores para la última instancia presencial de inmersión, a tiempo completo en Washington DC, del 21 al 25 de octubre 2024.

Georgetown University's Latin America Leadership Program's new flagship program, the Global Business Executive Leadership Program (GBEL), is an annual regionally-focused academic initiative designed for business leaders and organizations in the Latin American and Caribbean regions.

Similar to our annual programs' requirements, the Global Competitiveness Leadership Program and the Georgetown Innovation and Leadership in Government, participants will get to apply their newly acquired skills and tools to address a specific opportunity or challenge within their organizations. At the program's culmination, participants will join our broader network comprised of talented and active leaders from the region's private, public, and social sectors.

Today, we are wrapping up our first week of , the 18th edition of our Global Competitiveness Leadership Program (GCL).

This week, we welcomed to Georgetown University Latin America Leadership Program 32 new emergent leaders from 15 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Venezuela. We celebrate their commitment to promoting the common good throughout their diverse projects as they embark on this 10-week academic program and what will become a lifetime journey as they aim to create a multiplier effect of positive change across Latin America and the Caribbean.

In this first week of the program, our GCL2024s focused on the topics of Latin America in the Global Agenda, exploring the topics of Globalization, Competitiveness, and Governability with Georgetown University McDonough School of Business Professor Ricardo Ernst and engaging with two wonderful guest speakers: Gally Mayer who presented the case of regenerative agriculture and her co-led initiative Buena Vida Café Orgánico, and Adriana Arreaza from CAF -banco de desarrollo de América Latina y el Caribe- as she introduced the current opportunities for economic recovery and sustainability growth in the region. It is inspiring to facilitate the cohort interactions among themselves and with our faculty and speakers and witness the intelligent conversations generated throughout these sessions as our participants talk about their experiences and explore how these topics affect them and relate to their projects.

Georgetown University's Latin America Leadership Program (LALP) awards highly-qualified and diverse cohorts of young leaders with generous scholarships to participate in its Global Competitiveness Leadership Program, an intensive executive education leadership program at Georgetown University. This hybrid program selects highly qualified candidates across the region and aims to empower them to become future agents of change in Latin America and the Caribbean. Since its inception in 2007, GCL has fostered a tight-knit and dynamic alumni network of innovative leaders that promote positive transformation in the region.

What sets GCL apart from other programs is its unique regional focus on leadership in action as participants must develop or scale a regional impact project, either in the social, private, or public sector, to be carried out in their home countries. The implementation of these projects results in a multiplier effect, which amplifies the impact of the GCL program throughout the region.

Eligibility Requirements:
• 26 to 35 years old
• A Latin American or Caribbean country of origin, Puerto Rico, Spain, or Portugal
• Currently working on a project that creates a positive and long-lasting impact in the region
• College degree from an accredited university and excellent academic record
• Proven English language skills (reading, writing, and oral)

WEF DC aims to accelerate pivotal discussions and solutions in critical areas of entrepreneurship ecosystems, entrepreneurial education, and policy creation to empower women in business and foster international collaborations.

This forum is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to bring together more than 70 international speakers from twenty countries, including two Nobel Prize winners, CEOs, and VPs of international organizations such as the World Bank Group, the International Monetary Fund, and the Interamerican Development Bank, and the US Government. Ecuadorian Minister of Sports Sebastián Palacios, an alumnus of the 2019 Innovation and Leadership in Government Program (ILG), has been awarded the 2023 ILG Impact Award for his exemplary personal commitment to the advancement of youth sports across vulnerable communities as a catalyst for social and economic change.

"The focus [of Hincha de Mi Barrio], beyond creating good athletes, is creating good people.” - Sebastian Palacios

Throughout his public career, including four years as Congressman in the National Assembly, Palacios has fought to provide institutional support for sports-related initiatives and has advocated consistently for the political participation of youth and women in Ecuador.

Driving Change: Celebrating 25 Generations of LALP Alumni

From October 27 through October 29, 2022, University's Latin America Leadership Program (LALP) welcomed to campus over 120 LALP alumni spanning the 25 generations of LALP flagship programs. Since their inception, the Global Competitiveness Leadership Program (GCL) and Georgetown Innovation and Leadership in Government (ILG) programs have educated, connected, and inspired generations of agents of change from the private, public and social sectors spanning Ibero-America and the Caribbean. To commemorate this milestone, the alumni networks of the ILG and GCL programs came together in Washington for their third annual alumni reunion with an intense program of activities under the theme "Driving Change."

In 2022, after two years of adjustments due to the pandemic, Georgetown University's Latin America Leadership Program (LALP) set out to redesign its Georgetown Innovation and Leadership in Government (ILG), applying the lessons learned during this time to commemorate the occasion of the ninth edition of the program and the milestone of 25 LALP Alumni generations.

Congratulations to the 27 members of the revamped ILG program spanning13 Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, Panama, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Their final projects demonstrate not only the breadth of their areas of specialization - including sustainability, health, technology and innovation, transportation, infrastructure, education, security, justice, governance, employment, social inclusion, and migration - but also their firm commitment to improving their communities, their countries, and the region, in addition to the remarkable impact of their mentors and teachers throughout the program.

GCL Impact Award 2022 Applications Open

The GCL Impact Award was created by Georgetown University Latin American Board (LAB) and the LALP Advisory Committee to recognize Global Competitiveness Leadership Program (GCL) alumni who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting the multiplier effect in the Ibero-American region. The winner will present their GCL impact project during the GCL 2022 program culmination week in Washington DC.
