June 1st is here… that means that it’s one month from July 1st, the deadline date to pay for our 50th reunion. If you have made hotel arrangements, booked a plane, boat or train, told local friends and relatives that you will be in Connecticut….have you paid to attend to the reunion yet? To help the committee manage the reunion costs and other aspects related to the reunion, please make your payments as soon as you can. It promises to be a special night, when we all can say, “ We can’t be that old.” Check out the flyer, if you haven’t already.

Hi everyone, it's Cathy. I haven't posted in months. We had set Wednesday, November 9, 7PM to meet at Langley's Restaurant/bar for our 1st 50th reunion meeting. November is almost here! I had confirmed with management that we can look at the banquet room, but I'll contact him again in a few weeks. Very excited. Bring ideas!!

Hi Class of '73. "Check's in the mail"!!! to Langley's that is. So we can officially mark our calendars for August 4, 2023, 6PM Langley's Restaurant at Great Neck Country Club, Waterford.
To classmates who want to be involved in the committee we can meet at Langley's bar/restaurant Wednesday, November 9, 7PM to start planning. Many of us either struggle navigating Facebook (myself included) or are not on FB at all. PLEASE reach out to all.
To answer someone's question about attire, I assume whatever, probably casual? I hope this is a good start to a GREAT time. Committee members: bring suggestions. Kathleen Harrington and I already have someone in mind for treasurer (Joe Filippetti but he doesn't know yet ha ha). He is so laid-back I'm SURE if someone else has an interest he would say go for it!
We'll keep everyone posted.
Cathy

Hi classmates,
I finally received the application from Langley's Restaurant at Great Neck Country Club for Friday evening, August 4, 2023. I want to be sure that all who are going to be involved in the reunion planning are good with my decision. We've seen some negative comments and many positive comments. I had no idea such a stringent schedule was being devised. I am happy to chair this reunion, but if so, I wan to secure the place and date now. As I already posted, Langley's far beat Ocean Beach in price, much to my surprise. Since I have not signed anything I can step back and you can work together as a group or someone can take the lead. There are a lot of people interested so I'm sure it will work out. But if I chair, I want to secure the venue and date with a nonrefundable deposit. Thoughts? I already have positive feedback from a few of you. If I am going to sign the agreement I want to sign by this Thursday. Then I will be in my home in Maine for a week with limited Wi-FI. I look forward to your response and hopefully working together.

Yay. Kudos to Kathleen Harrington for spending a few hours working on this site.
I have compared pricing at Ocean Beach Park vs Langley's Restaurant, apples to apples and I was shocked that Langley's won by a far stretch. I chose "cocktail reception" vs buffet for a few reasons: cheaper, encourages mingling, and everyone I spoke with so far liked that plan better. $46-$47. Menu is butler-passed hors d'oeuvres, pasta station (not a pasta bar), veggie crudite, fruit.
Everyone I spoke with so far wanted August or September 2023. It must be a friday evening. For a Saturday evening we would have to guarantee 100 attendees. No September dates left and a few August dates so I choose Friday, August 4, 2023. We are on Langley's calendar but I am waiting for the papers to sign. I see not everyone is happy with me trying to secure a date. I am OK with another date. I need to know and I won't sign the agreement. Whoever meets with Brian Langley to secure a different agreed-on date will have to use their own money for a down payment and pay her/himself back when we get funds.
Kathleen and I are meeting at Citizen's bank next week to add me to the account. I can add a 2nd person when we have a treasurer. Phyllis?
How about a meeting Wednesday November 9, 7PM at Langley's in the restaurant?
