Part of 5th grade playing a math game. Two people put a decimal number on their forehead. The third person tells them the total, and they have to figure out what number is on their own forehead.

7th grade predicted if any three side lengths can create a triangle. Then we used spaghetti noodles to try different side length to prove if it works (we learned two side lengths have to be greater than the third in order to make a triangle)

Our Chadwick Cardinals were amazing at the Hollister Math Competition. We took second place as a school, and earned 48 individual medals in so many categories! I am so proud of these students and the hard work they put in mine and Mr Davenport’s classes. I took some pictures of us hanging out between test sessions, then individual photos of the medals. If you see a student with their picture more than once it’s because they medaled in more than one category!

This week in Mrs Blaine’s class:

We are wrapping up our chapters and also going to have some fun, so it will be a busy week!

5/6 will have our Christmas party in the afternoon on Thursday. Don’t forget to send in your candy gift and pizza money.

7/8 will have a mini-party with me on Thursday. We are going to have a board game party! Fun story, I won a contest for teachers and the makers of the card game “Taco, Cat, Goat Cheese, Pizza” sent me four new card games for my classroom. I will have those, and students can bring in board games or card games of their own. They can also bring in snacks to eat while we are playing games.

Now for the math we are wrapping up:

5th grade: we are adding fractions with unlike denominators, and will have our QUIZ on Thursday.

6th grade: we are wrapping up finding Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple and will have a QUIZ on Thursday.

7th grade: We are wrapping up dividing integers, and will have a QUIZ on Thursday (before we party)

8th grade: We are wrapping up congruent figures and rigid motions and will have a QUIZ on Tuesday. We will then begin some work with supplementary angles.

We had a great time in 7/8 at our math cake walk today! Thanks so much to all the parents who donated snack cakes! We did some math review, and had a lot of fun!

7th and 8th grade parents:

I am planning a fun math review that will have prizes on Halloween. I am in need of some donations of boxes of Little Debbie snack cakes. If you can donate a box and send it in Thurs or Fri I would really appreciate it! If you could help me spread the word that would help too.
