Debate Korea

[ Open Call for Mentors ]

Debate Korea calls for mentors for its training programs leading up to Korea WUDC 2021

Ever devoted an entire semester (or more) to debating? Ever obsessed over Bo Seo’s speech? Ever cried over missing the break? Ever felt stuck and lost without anyone to guide you?

Become the mentor you’ve always wanted but never had.
Mentors can be the change they want to see in this society through instilling seeds of growth in the new generation. A growing community of 300+ active debaters is waiting for you.

————————

👉 Why Be a Mentor?

✔ Give Back
Make a difference in the lives of many juniors following your path. Facilitate your own professional and personal growth by sharing the skills you picked up through your years of experience. Give back to your society and the KIDA community that helped you advance and grow.

✔ Make Debate Great Again
Ever complained about how KIDA is back-pedaling? Be one of the first actors to make debate relevant again within and outside of the debate community. Lead impactful initiatives and innovative projects to shape the future of KIDA.

✔ Enhance Your Leadership and Management Skills
Mentoring is an empowering experience that impacts both mentors and mentees. Through mentoring, you will build a wealth of leadership skills and experiences that will transfer to any endeavor you might choose in the future.

✔ Expand your Personal and Professional Network
Get back in touch with old friendly (fellow) dinos you’ve grown apart from after retirement. Attend and network at meet-ups and special events with other active KIDA members from past and present.

✔ Additional Benefits Include:
- Opportunity to work with, teach and learn from Korea WUDC 2021 CAP and other qualified lecturers/debaters
- Opportunity to organize Worlds-related debate events (workshops, training, public debates, tournaments, etc)
- Chance to build your adjudication CV before Korea WUDC
- Certificate of Participation issued by Sangjin Oh (Chairman of Debate Korea) as a token of our appreciation

👉 What Can I Do?

Mentors will be given the responsibility to plan and organize various recruiting and training initiatives. Mentors are encouraged to commit for a minimum of 3-months on a regular/semi-regular basis.
Examples include:
- Advanced training sessions to prepare for Majors
- 10-week basic skills training for KIDA Expansion
- Developing and guiding junior trainers
- Creating training materials to ensure consistency
- Quarterly International/Domestic Tournaments
- Summer/Winter Intensive Workshops
- … and various training programs to help KIDA societies get WUDC ready

👉 Who Can Apply?

Anyone with a passion for debate who is willing to give back
(a.k.a friendly dinosaurs who can carve out a few hours of their time every few weeks/month)

To apply, fill out a quick form below by June 14th 18:00 https://forms.gle/H5cy5Mgib6aRexSH6
