Scinapse NYC aims to bridge the gap between childhood and adulthood STEM field education through the Scinapse wants to help build that generation.
Founded by two teens interested in STEM fields, Scinapse aims to bridge the gap between science education as a child, and science education as an adult. New York City is full of universities and museums that offer STEM events, programs, and research for all ages. However, there is an unfortunate gap between those aimed at children, and those aimed at adults. It just as easy to find "18+" events at
the AMNH as it is to find "12 & under" events at the Hall of Science. But finding events specifically aimed at teens without arduous digging is near impossible. Teens are the most important audience for science education. High school is when a person begins shaping his or her interests, which go on to influence the person's future career and life decisions. By neglecting teenagers, we have lost an opportunity to cultivate STEM interests and ensure a strong generation of scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians. We aggregate STEM events in the NYC area that are open to teens into a biweekly email newsletter. Instead of going through great lengths to find events, teens can sign up and have the information delivered to their technological doorsteps. Our website features these events, along with internships and job opportunities around the city.
