REMINDER: The Scholastic Book Fair will be held on Monday, March 10 - Friday, March 14 — with online shopping extended through Thursday, March 20.

A Scholastic eWallet gives your child a safe, cashless way to shop at the Book Fair. To set this up, go to https://www.scholastic.com/bf/greenwoodelementaryschool13 and look for the eWallet section on the page. Upon completion, you can print out your eWallet information with your student’s name and account balance – and send it with your student to aid in the checkout process. (This is super helpful for the younger students.)

If you have eWallet funds remaining from previous book fairs, those funds converted into a Scholastic eGift card balance. You can apply that eGift card balance for a new eWallet for the Spring 2025 Book Fair. Log in to your Scholastic online account to check for an available balance.

Cash, credit cards, and checks made payable to Greenwood PTA also will be accepted but the Scholastic eWallet is our preferred method of payment.

The BOOK FAIR is coming!

You and your students can shop a few different ways. Be sure to note the different days for each shopping opportunity.

In-Person Student Shopping: Your students can shop the Book Fair with their classes on Monday, March 10 - Friday, March 14.

In-Person Parent Shopping: On Monday, March 10; Tuesday, March 11; and Thursday, March 13 – from 3:40 - 5:30 p.m. – parents will be allowed into the Media Center to shop. (See the Special Event information for an extra special shopping opportunity!)

Shop Online: You can shop online at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/greenwoodelementaryschool13. The Virtual Book Fair will run Friday, March 7 – Thursday, March 20.

The Spring Fair is open to the community and includes bounce houses and games/prizes.

Our Color Run is our biggest fundraiser of the year. You and your child can raise money to support the PTA and then run through the field behind Greenwood and get sprayed with different colors.

The school nurse, Angela Niemiec, RN, BSN, is looking for help during Greenwood's annual hearing and vision screening.

Please see below if you are available.

Greenwood has it's annual hearing and vision screening coming up at the beginning of March and we are hoping to get the PTAs help in finding 2-4 parent volunteers to come assist the screeners shuffle students to and from their classes. We will need 2 volunteers, one in the morning (approximately 9:15-11:30am) and one in the afternoon (approximately 12:15 to 2:45pm) on Monday 3/3.

For Tuesday 3/4, I would like to have 2 volunteers on stand by with the possibility of being canceled depending on how far the screeners get on Monday.

Greenwood ES Hearing & Vision Screening Volunteers SY 24-25 Greenwood ES will be having its annual hearing and vision screening on March 3-5. We are hoping to find 4 parent volunteers to assist the screeners shuffle students to and from their classes on the first two days of our screening. Depending on the progress of the first day, we may or may not end up....

Did you read the Hunger Games? How about "The Crossover"? You can't forget about "Harry Potter". Well then, you should come to Rosa Parks' Annual STEAM Night which will be held on Thursday, February 20th from 6:30-8:00pm. This STEAM event will feature hands on activities involving our favorite books! Come build a parachute for Katniss, fix Harry Potter's glasses, and shoot some hoops like Josh and JB from "The Crossover", make some bubbles from the "Wizard of Oz" and MANY more!

This event is free and will have activities for all ages!

Our Dining Night Out is today at Moby Dick's House of Kabob, Olney.

It is going on right now until 8:30pm.

You can bring in the flyer or just tell them at the register that you are there for Greenwood!

We delivered the supplies from our mid-year supply drive today! Each classroom (including PEP, specials and other special programs) got a bag of essentials like tissues and disinfecting wipes, plus their choice of other supplies. The supply cart was also stocked with some treats and beverages for staff to choose from. THANK YOU to everyone who donated!

Culture Night is canceled for tomorrow due to MCPS being closed (we are not allowed to use the building).

The PTA is asking for your help with this month's supply restock for teachers and staff. Each year, we organize a surprise supply drop-off for staff at the start of the third quarter when some of their necessities start dwindling down. This year, we've set up an Amazon Wish List that will allow donations to be shipped to a central location before we bring them to Greenwood next week.

Our wish list includes various classroom supplies, as well as winter essentials like tissues and disinfecting wipes, that will be distributed across all classrooms and staff. Please check out our wish list and contribute if you can, and please ensure that all supplies are delivered by February 11.
