The Canterbury Club is a British-themed club that gives social teas to get various groups together for conversation. We are also interested in Celtic and other traditions of inner spirituality and take trips to energizing, inspirational locations around Georgia. Where the choice can be made, we try to opt for the “deep” over the “shallow,” and we love to talk about “stuff”! Or we are doing serv

Our Story
The Canterbury Club is a British-themed club of the English Department at MGA and is based at the Cochran campus. We actually give “teas” at various times and locations in and around Russell Hall on the Cochran campus in order to get people together for old-fashioned conversation, including such past events as “invite your professor” or “a tea for the English faculty and the librarians,” or, “tea for graduating seniors.” But that is not all we do: we take trips to the Shakespeare Tavern Theater in Atlanta for a show, or go to the High Museum of Art, or we go to the Renaissance Faire, or we go see Flannery O’Connor’s house and museum, or we take the midnight tour in Savannah for the spooky thrill of it. We go to theater productions in Warner Robins put on by some of our English faculty and we have a good time doing fun things outside of the classroom. We have a meal together and talk about philosophy and the world we live in. We seek quiet hikes in the mountains at lookout points, visit spiritual places such as the Ocmulgee Indian Mounds, or a Buddhist temple, or the Hindu temple transplanted piece-by-piece to Atlanta, or other landmarks or activities uplifting to the spirit! We rejuvenate by taking such short breaks from our studies!
