Any alumni or employees live (or have lived) in those modern apartments downtown called Vine on 8th? It's the ones across from Frasier Hall where they bulldozed the crack houses in 1999? lol, j/k (actually, I'm totally not--you'd never know they were ever there now, though!). I checked it out on Friday and seemed cool, but couldn't see the actual apartment yet or a model as there weren't any available right now. Yay or nay--and why? In related news, is anyone looking to rent their place? It's an overpriced jungle out there right now. The move-in date is somewhat flexible but preferably before the end of October.

GIF for example as to how I feel about the place I'm at right now:
Hooded zipper large jacket needs a new home. PM me for pickup on Monday
I have a Hooded Zip up Jacket size large with the LVA logo on front and back. IF there is any parent that wants this PM me
This may seem like a really stupid question but I guess it’s worth a shot 🤷🏽‍♀️. Does anyone know if they sell yearbooks from a couple years back?
Shawn Heilman was a 1995 graduate of LVA and an amazing human being.
Thank you to all who joined the 94-99 virtual reunion and to those who sent their love to the online reunion. I think this should be at least a bi-monthly thing! It was so wonderful to catch up, especially with those who have been unable to attend previous reunions. The LVA bond is strong and it is amazing that we can always pick up right where we left off!
Since it looks like we will be in quarantine even longer, let's plan for end of April for another virtual reunion!
I am so grateful for LVA and my amazing LVA family!!!!
My dreams were crushed at this school. Mr. Connor is a terrible teacher. All the teachers in the theatre department were inappropriate but Mr. Connor was the worst. In other words, Don't go here!

Congratulations to LVA's Jared Haddock ('96) for winning Director of a Musical of the Decade by !!

LVA has been working hard with the proposed CCSD reopening plan. Please remember that nothing is approved yet for the district, but we are working to make 2020-21 as exceptional as other years for our students! We currently have the following planned for our students:

1. Students will have their major classes all year.

2. We will be taking this opportunity to focus on individual student growth as musicians and artists.

3. While concerts and shows in the fall are TBD, we can still utilize our beautiful theaters and other large on campus spaces to record performances for public consumption within our community and beyond. As we move into phase 3 and 4, live performances may be possible.

4. Because of the class sizes and times we see them, we can utilize this opportunity to focus on a deeper per pupil connection - this will allow for developing career readiness, college or audition portfolios, and exploration of content beyond our regular instruction (careers, industry, etc).

5. We will still be able to have paraprofessional instruction with our students - but also virtually.

6. We, as faculty, will be receiving extensive training on virtual/distance learning.

7. Using the many connections our faculty already has in their respective industries, we will be able to achieve amazing opportunities for creating, learning, and sharing in virtual masterclasses/exchanges/etc with internationally recognized artists.

8. Under the proposed plan, students will still have the ability to take the elective courses they selected. These classes will only be one semester. We, as teachers, will be mindful of which electives may work better during which semester.

9. Students' schedules will be built around their major to avoid conflicts.

10. This plan allows us to move seamlessly into phase 3 and 4 and beyond - when we would go back to daily in-person instruction with all of our students.

11. LVA will work with students on technology and connectivity issues, to make sure students are set up for success at home and at school.

June 2, 2020

Dear Seniors and Parents/Guardians;

It is finally happening! (CCSD just gave me this afternoon the “green light” to share information with you.) You have endured quarantine, personal and family struggles, the stripping of traditional senior end-of-year activities, and your final grades have posted to your final high school transcript. After one more senior finishes current work in progress, 100% of LVA’s class of 2020 currently enrolled will graduate! Most of you have returned items due to the school and have picked up your personal belongings including your cap and gown. If you have not completed the official check out, please contact Ms. Shuler in the Curriculum Office.

We are very excited to announce the Class of 2020 Graduation Plan. While it has taken more work, by more people, than any event I can remember, we believe it is the ceremony our senior class deserves given the current mandates and restrictions. The plan was constructed around the following goals:

1.Maintain all safety protocols established by Governor Sisolak, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Clark County School District Superintendent and Board of Trustees. Restrict gatherings in one room to less than 50 people.
2. Allow the class to celebrate with one another, in front of family.
3. Keep as much tradition in place so that our students have the send-off they have earned and deserve.
4. See #1.

We will celebrate over two days with two different events on June 5-6, 2020. In order to finish recording part of your ceremony, we need everyone to respond to Mr. Hager’s recent request for photos in your cap and gown TODAY. Please address individual questions about graduation to Mr. Hager at [email protected].

It is one of my favorite honors to hand diplomas to students each year, knowing their stories, and how they got to this point. Though our lives have been absolutely turned upside down, and more for our seniors than others, we are working hard to provide an opportunity to celebrate and engage -- though this will look and sound differently than what we have all worked for. A special thanks to our Student Body and Senior Class Officers who have shared their ideas, parent volunteer Denise Rossi for generating enthusiasm and helping make things happen, and to my amazing administration and staff who continually give their love and time to make great things happen. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Scott Walker, Principal

Congratulations to LVA's Class of 2020 Wall of Fame winners!

Seniors! You may have heard about a car parade scheduled for tomorrow - we're rescheduling it for the near future! Bear with us as we are trying to abide by CCSD regulations! Please share!

LVA served as the emergency gathering location during this fire. Over the years, many students and alumni called the Alpine Motel home. TY to The Mob Museum (where several alumni work) for stepping up to help in this time of need.

To support the 50+ victims of the Alpine Motel Apartments fire, the deadliest blaze in city of Las Vegas history, The Mob Museum has set up boxes to accept donations of new socks, underwear, clothing, shoes, toiletries and toys from December 24-27.

Alumni Spotlight! LVA Alums, Edgar Alejandro ('13) and Adriel Roman ('13) created their debut feature film titled HOME - Horror Feature Film . It’s a film that breaks barriers in may ways, but perhaps most notably is its diverse cast: It features a more modern take on an American household, with its three main protagonists being of Asian descent.

Filmed in 15 days with a budget of only $35,000, it is currently traveling through the film festival circuit. Their most recent award was “Best Actor” with LVA alum Shirley Van Patten ('16), where they traveled overseas to Brussels to pick it up from the Fusion International Film Festivals!

They have operated a film production company for the past four years now, working with local businesses and traveling across the country to film commercials and events. It’s with this project that they make the transition from the commercial to the creative side of filmmaking. Las Vegas Academy Alumni Las Vegas Academy Alumni Association
