We are a generation that will never come back…

A generation that walked to school and then walked back.
A generation that did their homework alone to get out asap to play in the street.
A generation that spent all their free time in the streets with their Friends.
A generation that played hide and seek when dark.
A generation that made mud cakes.
A generation that collected sports cards.
A generation that found, collected and washed & returned empty coke bottles to the local grocery store for 5 cents each, then bought a Mountain Dew and candy bar with the money.
A generation that made paper toys with their bare hands.
A generation who bought vinyl albums to play on record players.
A generation that collected photos and albums of clippings of their life experiences as a Kid.
A generation that played board games and cards on rainy days.
A generation whose TV went off at midnight after playing the National Anthem.
A generation that had parents who were there.
A generation that laughed under the covers in bed, so parents didn’t know we were still awake.
A generation that is passing and unfortunately it will never return no matter how hard we try. I loved Growing up when I did - it was the best of times.

…aaaannd, that’s a wrap!
Some members of Reunion Committee met to culminate Reunion two years in the planning… Stay tuned for Zoom gatherings to keep the momentum going!
Blessings & Happy Holidays to all our friends and families!

The Duffy-Madonna Class of 1970 legacy gift that will keep giving….

Reconnected with this out of State former Duffy classmate (1966-1968) at WNY wedding last eve. “Defected” to NWHS

The Duffy-Madonna Class of 1970 was pleased to present Library Executive Director Meghan Brauer with a check for the purchase of children’s books and program accessories. The donation represents a heartfelt legacy from the class, and in memoriam to class member Margee Netzer-Zito. Check presented by 1970 Class Committee member Ron Zito.

Duffy-Madonna Class of 1970 Reunion Committee met to “close the books” on our successful event with a positive budget dollar balance.
Committee voted to donate surplus dollars to the Niagara County/Wilson Community Library who will, in turn, purchase BIG books for “Margee’s Magical Reading Room”.
The original Reunion committee member Margee Netzer-Zito, who passed in 2020, conducted weekly Children’s Reading Activities at the library.
Following a major renovation project completed in 2021, the Library’s children’s reading program section was dedicated to honor the 1970 Alumnus.

Sadly, our Margee Netzer-Zito passed before celebration came to fruition…

Let's Party Like Its 2019!🎊

Days are counting down to our long awaited Reunion Gathering.
50 years is a lot to celebrate & thankfully, a lot to celebrate for…

As of this writing 80 Alumni have committed to our Reunion on Sept. 25th.
We’re delighted to announce that Niagara Falls Country Club (NFCC) has given us an additional two weeks, until Sept 14th to provide attendee numbers. If you know of any Alumni who are still on the fence or forgot to send in their response information please have them do so. They won’t want to miss the fun!
Sadly, many of our original 283 classmates have left us, or are unable to attend this landmark gathering. Those attending are looking forward to a night of conversation, catching up, looking back & lots of laughter as we enjoy an evening of music, food & drink with good friends.

Some helpful information as we move toward our Reunion weekend…
Covid Protocols - As with most event gatherings, NFCC requests masks only IF you are not fully vaccinated.
Masks & hand sanitizer will be placed throughout the event room for your use as well.
Thank you fellow Alumni in advance for following basic Covid protocols.

Parking - Upon entering Mountain View Drive please use the second driveway & parking area on your left. Event parking is directly in front of the Escarpment Room where our Reunion will be held. Overflow parking is directly across the street.

Dress Code is business casual. (Duffy beanies optional)

FYI - There is a Happy Hour Friday evening Sept. 24th, starting at 5 PM, at the Niagara Frontier Golf Club, Lake Road, Youngstown.
All are welcome including spouses, etc.
Donated beer while it lasts. After that its BYOB & food. Please come & join us!

Safe journey to all as you travel to be “Reunited & It Feels So Good”

Your Friends on the Committee

Dear Friends

As you plan the coming 'countdown' to the reunion event on September 24/25 - couple thoughts:

* our original invitation included the list of Niagara Falls Hotel partners - might be good to remind alumni that they would be offered a discount when booking at:

QUALITY INN / Antonio's Banquet
7708 Niagara Falls Blvd, Niagara Falls
(716) 283-0621
Wingate by Wyndham
333 Rainbow Blvd, Niagara Falls
(716) 295-4000

(Owner Frank Strangio is NCHS alumni offering special discount when you mention you're in town for the Class of 1970 Reunion)

The Saturday event will be a wonderful night - overlooking the Niagara River gorge. The Committee has arranged a beautiful room and outdoor terrace.
Do remind alumni: Cocktails at 6:00 / Champagne Toast at 7PM
might want to make mention of Casual Dress ('classy casual?)

Can't wait!

September 25th rolling out to be a great time to renew old friendships & memories!!! Join us!!!

Dear Fellow Alumni,
At our reunion committee meeting this past week, we decided to keep a means of communication open so that all are apprised of our reunion weekend developments. It was decided that emails to all alumni would be sent with developments and items of interest, as well as idea requests as they come up.
We will also use this page – Duffy-Madonna Class of 1970 – to duplicate the above, hoping that we can reach as many alumni as possible. We encourage you to pass along reunion information to those you are still in contact with.
Planning is going well for our evening at The Niagara Falls Country Club. A reception table will greet you as you arrive where you will sign in and pick up your name tag. Then, proceed to meet your classmates, grab an adult beverage 😉 and enjoy the picturesque vistas of Lewiston, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Toronto.
A Memorial Board will also be in place for you to remember & pay respects to those classmates who are no longer with us.
Rozanne Hargrave Wrobel and DiCamillo’s Bakery have donated a sweets table for us, as well as others donating to the evening.
The DJ has been contracted. We are requesting your ideas for songs for his playlist. Rumor has it that Karaoke may be involved - probably in the final hours so nobody remembers...
The committee would also like your ideas as to what you would like to see/do that evening. Some ideas put forth are: funniest memory(s), dance with who you wanted to date but never did - we don’t judge, number of times in rehab, most body parts repaired/replaced, best/most unusual hobby, spot-light dances, etc.
We will also be sending out an email and Facebook item with up-to-dated information on our golf event, Friday Sept 24th at Frontier Golf Club.
This reunion belongs to all classmates of Madonna & Duffy Class of 1970. The committee has tried to organize what we feel to be in the best interests of all. It has now been a two-year endeavor. Please help us with suggestions regarding the above by emailing either: Augie Iacovitti at [email protected] or Ron Zito at [email protected].
Also, PLEASE SEND IN YOUR RESPONSE CARDS WITH PAYMENT ASAP but no later that Sept 1st. No reservations or payment at the door.
It has been 51 years since we graduated on that June day in 1970. In the past seventeen months, a pandemic has gripped the world, something many of us would never have believed a few short years ago. Many of our dear classmates have passed on in those years. “We may never pass this way again!”
Please join us in making our reunion the best it can be!!! Looking forward to seeing you.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the Reunion Committee,
Rozanne Hargrave Wrobel, Augie Iacovitti, Ron Zito

Dear Fellow Alumni,
The genesis of this email is to keep you apprised of our upcoming 50th Duffy-Madonna Reunion for the Class of 1970. At the cancellation of our 2020 event, we booked Saturday, September 25, 2021 for our new date.

The venue remains the same, Niagara Falls Country Club, as does what we had originally planned. In the Reunion Committee's various communications within the past month, we thought it best to update you with the following guidelines, as set forth by New York State:

• As mentioned above, our reunion is scheduled for Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Niagara Falls Country Club. Our date is secure.
• Current NYS guidelines for social engagements / functions, etc. have a capacity limit of 150 persons. The guidelines may loosen / tighten as conditions fluctuate. This limit includes any NFCC staff working our event.
• Attendees must show proof of recent negative COVID test results or proof of immunization.
• Attendees must wear masks, at all times, except when seated and eating and drinking.
• Ceremonial and socially-distanced dancing will be allowed in designated areas only.
It is our thought that any of the above could cause us to, again, cancel our reunion. We feel we did not wait 50 years to have a reunion under these, or more stringent circumstances.

We have set June 15th as the date to decide if our reunion is a go, or not, depending on the lifting of various guidelines. We agree it is the considerate thing to do for those that may need to make travel and accommodation arrangements. If the decision is to march forward with our reunion, the Committee will immediately send out another email, with invitations to follow.

Conversely, an email will be sent letting you know that the reunion has been canceled. Regardless, whether or not we go forward with the formal event, we will also plan to gather informally that weekend with COVID-compliant events.
**[also please see an email sent you simultaneously with attendance query]

Respectfully submitted,
on behalf of the Reunion Committee,
Rozanne Hargrave Wrobel, Augie Iacovitti, Ron Zito
