Hi Class of ‘78. Please pray for Karen Bertsch, as she begins treatment for breast cancer.🙏 She was diagnosed with stage 0 (which is good!) but due to complications, she has had to have 3 surgeries. Let’s pray for a good recovery for her, and great success as she goes through the next step of radiation.

Here’s a message from Dave Wegman. Does anyone recognize these young faces??
Happy Throwback Thursday -- Completely forgot I had these! I was in the bookshelves the other day and pulled out the high school diploma holder and a bag fell out that I had put there probably back in 1984 or 85. Mom had saved all of these class photos from Kindergarten through 5th grade for me. I recall her giving to me when they got settled into their house in Titusville. The detail ain't great, they are 5x7s and when you put a bunch of kids on there the details gets lost, but still fun to look back on. All from Manitou Road Elementary.
I'll tag all my Spencerport peeps in this post. A couple of you I know are in these or you may know of someone else that was in these classes to pass them onto. My gray matter is trying to recall names, I know a few but can not remember many/all. I also sent them in an DM to the Class of 78 page for them to add as an album for everyone there to try and identify, but no one has responded and I don't know who the admin. is.

Ralph J. Koons Obituary, August 23, 1960 - November 6, 2021 Ralph John Koons of Greece. November 6, 2021. Predeceased by his son, John Carroll; love of his life, Barbara Koons; parents, Mary Carroll and Eugene Ko...
Dear classmates, I’m sorry to share such sad news but we lost a classmate last night. Ralph Koon passed away. As you all know, Ralph was married to Barb Speer. Barb passed away about four years ago from breast cancer. Now they are reunited and walking hand and hand just like when they walked the halls of Spencerport High School. Please keep their daughter Hannah in your prayers. Take care everyone. ❤️
Happy New Year, friends! Hope you all are staying safe and healthy!
Just thought I would share this so you can stay in touch with school news!
Hi everyone! A quick question- Is anyone planning to come to Nashville in Aug.? It’s totally fine if not. I haven’t heard from anyone, so kind of thinking maybe no. A couple things- I may have to have surgery this summer (if not before).. which means a long recovery time.😔 Also, depending on how things go, we’re tentatively planning a trip to NY, ideally in August, but haven’t pinned down dates. Anyway, that doesn’t mean you couldn’t all come here, even if I can’t join you.😊. But, if this doesn’t transpire, no problem! If anyone ever plans to visit this area, please let me know!
Sending love.❤️..,Eileen
Hi everyone! It’s less than 6 months away from the mini-reunion in Nashville! The dates are Aug. 23-25. This is a long update..so here it goes😊..
First, hotels; I’ve checked a couple that offer group rates (10 rooms or more) but they are quite expensive still. I went to Expedia, and found several reasonable hotels for that weekend. Rates may change, but that is your best bet- go to Expedia. Any hotels on Music City Drive are good, with good rates. There is a Days Inn, Country Inn and Suites, Quality Inn, and Inn at Opryland, all around $160.00 a night or less. This is a good location; it’s across the street from the Ga***rd Opryland Convention Center, which I mentioned before, is a must see.🙂 You should take an hour or two to walk through. There are beautiful atriums, a boat ride through one area, etc. if you want to stay at this hotel, that would be a treat!! Rates start at about $250.00 though. There are also hotels near the airport that are reasonable, if you want to check them out.: Hilton, Comfort Suites, La Quinta, Best Western and more. Hotels that are right in downtown Nashville are very high- like $300.00 a night.😳 I can look further into group rates after getting a final count, but if you want to book something soon, that’s fine.
I would love to open up my house to you all, but it’s not big enough.😊 -and we live almost 40 miles outside the city.🙂
I compiled some highlights in these boxes.😊
There are a few downtown tours as you see, and it looks confusing. I’m not familiar with them, but there is a 20 minute horse and carriage tour of downtown that’s fun and inexpensive.
Of course, you’ll want to see lower Broadway to see Nashville’s night life, maybe a river cruise on the General Jackson.-there are lunch and dinner cruises(2 hrs) with entertainment. It’s a bit pricey, but fun.
I checked, and there are no shows at the Ryman Auditorium the last 2 weeks of August. The Grand Ole Opry has Fri and Sat night shows, and a list of performers comes out about 2 months before show dates. It’s really entertaining, but much more so if you really like country music.😊. And for those interested in Civil War history, there is a tour, but you can just go to separate mansions.- The Hermitage is a good choice.(Andrew Jackson’s home) And if you don’t mind heading south about 30 miles, Franklin TN has more historical places. The Carnton Plantation, my favorite, was used as a hospital during the war, and that is a very interesting guided tour.
Anyway, you can google any of these of course, to get more information.
Saying all that, rather than having a formal itinerary for everyone to follow ( other than meeting at a specific restaurant and time at least once), I think everyone could choose whatever accommodates their interests, budget, etc. Do you agree? Plus, you all may be on different time schedules. I’m sure some will stay longer than others. I would love to hear your thoughts, and get feedback! Thx so much! We’ll keep in touch.
Best friends in high school reunited after over 40 years! Maggie McGinnity Fitzgibbon, Donna (Blum) Adriaansen Barbara Maltese ❤️❤️❤️
