Mary Thoma: The Art and Soul of Acting

Mary Thoma: The Art and Soul of Acting

Comments

The opportunity to display your skills when acting is not common these days because there are no opportunities to do so, so with this school and this page I find it a huge help for many. It is a way for others to explore ways to get better at your craft and learn more in the process. I just finished watching the movie Ruby in Paradise which is a perfect example for how characters should be in position to be successful. A young Ashley Judd leads an excellent cast in Ruby in Paradise through many ways and has a way of making people better in how they interact with their character. The film is available on many platforms such as Amazon Prime, iTunes, Vudu, etc. This film has its excellent ways in appealing to others in which I say is a film worth watching. Here is a link to the trailer: https://youtu.be/KlWMYCONL4I.

Hey hey aspiring actors AND those who don't have Meisner technique training. Contemplating teaching my Meisner Class Series starting in either Dec or Jan. Interested? Comment below, please, with your preference of starting month. Lots of folks reaching out to me, so let's see who is TRULY interested. It would be a 2 hr/once a week class for 12 weeks... OR a 2 hr/2X a week for 6 weeks. Includes book, notebook and more. This is a tried and true TECHNIQUE. This is not audition training but it will vastly improve your auditions because it teaches you how to be ALIVE in the MOMENT... moment to moment. Let me know if you are interested. If there is enough interest, I will share more details and do an "official" class announcement. Thanks, Mary

Synopsis: When Islamic extremists ambush a bus in Africa, the attackers give Muslims the opportunity to flee. The Muslims refuse and stand with the Christian passengers, thwarting the attack.

Please submit actors H/S, Resume and/or Reel to: [email protected]

We are currently seeking African American or Black actors for the following roles:

Chilemba (8 -10): Chilemba’s soul touches whoever he meets. Whether it’s a smile to a stranger or the way he takes care of his mother. People gravitate toward this kid.

Aluna (28+): The mother of Chilemba, a 10 year old boy. As a Christian, her faith gives her strength in the face of terror. Though parenting exhausts her now and again.

Bus Driver (30+): The bus driver hauls people across the African desert day after day. It’s routine, but he cares about his passengers and it’s apparent in the way he goes about his business.

Terrorist #1 (18-22): Recruited at a young age, this young man so desperately wants the answers to everything exploding in his young brain - especially right and wrong, and good and evil. He takes orders and rarely acts on intuition.
Muslim Husband: (30+) A man of peace and responsibility. His love and respect for his wife is evident in the way he tends to her.

Muslim Wife: A gentle spirit. Not visibly pregnant with her first child, she takes a quiet joy in her pending motherhood. She is a mirror of her husband.

Security #1 Weary, he is torn between responsibility and the intensity of his job. Though the country is stable and peaceful, lately things have gotten a little intense. The threat of violence seems to be a tease because he, himself, has never experienced it.

Terrorist #2 (18+ or -) This young man barely fits in his fatigues. He is eager to please any authority figure.

**We are also seeking featured extras ( credit/no pay) to portray the people on the bus.

We look forward to seeing your submissions. H/S, RESUME, REEL Submissions due to [email protected] by Wednesday, MAR. 2.
