We are finally getting a chance to catch our breath and have a moment to put together a few words about last weekend…..

As rehearsals progressed, we knew we had something very special to bring to the Gort stage this year. Following a chaotic dress rehearsal, opening night arrived and nerves were overflowing backstage (mostly from us)BUT… as they always do, our Starz dug deep and performed their hearts out from beginning to end to bring smiles, laughter and genuine happiness in abundance to the entire audience.

Alongside our talented cast this production would not have been possible without an amazing technical team. Superb comments regarding stage, lights, sound, and projections were coming our way all weekend.Thank you to everyone who contributed their time in any way to our production. Special mentions include Belfast School Of Performing Arts, The "Q" Club Variety Group, Gort Community Centre,Gort Educational World, Minihane's SuperValu.

We are so lucky to have amazing friends and family giving up their time to join our backstage crew, front of house team etc.,- we are so appreciative and will never forget the support. To our stage moms, dads, granny and grandads who jumped straight in to the mayhem also to offer help- thank you!

This October Bank Holiday weekend, join the cast of Starz Youth Group as they take you down to the swamp with their production of Shrek The Musical Jr.
This family musical comedy follows an ogre named Shrek who has learned the hard way that “people hate the things they cannot understand.” For many years he has protected himself from the hurtful actions of those who are scared of him by living as a recluse in a cozy cesspit. One day, his peaceful swamp is disturbed by new tenants: fairytale misfits — including Pinocchio, the Ugly Duckling, the Wicked Witch, Peter Pan, the Three Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf — have been banished there by the villainous Lord Farquaad. In order to gain back his land, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad to rescue the feisty princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a fierce dragon. Setting off with his faithful companion, Donkey, Shrek begins the journey of a lifetime filled with adventure, romance, and hilarity.
In order to ultimately succeed, Shrek must battle an even bigger obstacle: learning how to believe in himself and open his heart to others.
