The Institute for Social Ecology (ISE) is an educational and activist organization dedicated to the study of social ecology; an interdisciplinary field drawing on philosophy, political and social theory, anthropology, history, economics, the natural sciences, and feminism.

Historically, the ISE has served as a catalyst for social movements, demonstrating the skills, knowledge, and relationships to foster vibrant, democratic communities. Established in 1974, the ISE has offered academic and popular educational programming for over 40 years. We currently offer online seminars, conferences, in-person intensives, and coursework in partnership with several institutions of higher education.
