The Silver Bay Au Pair Courses, established in 1996, has a new sponsoring accredited post secondary institution of higher education. Long Island University begins sponsoring our courses on March 1, 2024.
Our current sponsor, The College of Saint Rose, will support us until February 29, 2024. Saint Rose has announced it will close permanently this summer.

Since 1996, our experienced staff have been committed to quality instruction that provides academic value to our students. Our courses focus on three types of classes - child development, personal development and learning, and transition to American culture. Classes are offered about one weekend each month. Most course weekends take place at the Silver Bay YMCA of the Adirondacks campus on Lake George, however some courses are held in Albany NY, and Las Vegas. We are looking for other locations to add more courses as well! If you are in America with a student Visa, you are required to take the equivalent of six credit hours of class per year. Each of our weekend courses, plus the required papers and projects, are equivalent to three credit hours of class work.
Our students say that they love the laid-back atmosphere of our programs. We think you’ll learn more if you’re laughing and enjoying yourself at the same time. Over a course weekend, you can expect to take part in several class sessions on different topics that include group discussions and activities to enhance your personal development & critical thinking skills.
While the main reason for the SBAP Course is to get your credits, the staff also strives to give you an outlet to get to know American culture and the cultures of those gathered together, to give you an outlet to foster your creativity (and laugh a lot!), and to give you the opportunity to create your own unique community with Au Pairs from all around the globe. We are creating an experience for you - “an adventure that comes with a breathtaking view.”
