📅 Happy Monday!

📚 Tomorrow I'm publishing my latest blog, wrapping up my thoughts on getting everyone Back to School.

🙏 I hope that school is going well for your family.

🚘 If there have been a few bumps, I want you to know that help is out there!

📞 Don't be shy about asking for what you need. Chances are, you are not alone!

👨‍👧‍👦 You might be surprised to discover how many other parents are dealing with the same stuff.

🎙 I discovered two new podcasts today that I love. If you have kids who think and learn differently, here's a quick BTS episode from "In It" that's filled with relatable, down to earth advice.

🐔🐥Seriously - I mean it when I say EVERYONE can be a math person (or chicken!)

👋 Pssssst!

👉 Yes, you!

🙋‍♀️ Want to know a simple way to become a math person?

🔎 Find a new entry point!

📊 Many clients tell me they never liked math because it seemed boring, not useful in real life, or there was too much memorization.

🎨 I’m sorry that you didn’t find out sooner that math is actually beautiful, and creative, and even…fun!

🎳 People are surprised to discover that they are better at math then they thought when it’s part of a hobby they enjoy.

✂ Like quilting. I love this optical illusion quilt!

🖍 Stay tuned as I share more surprising "entry points" to math.

🏌‍♂️ 🎮 🛶 What hobbies do you enjoy?

🤐❓❓Want to know a secret?!❓❓🤐

It's TRUE that most people don't need a lot of the math they learned in school.

But what everyone needs is CONFIDENCE in their ability to make smart decisions about the numbers in our everyday life.

Often, when people decide they aren't good at math in school, they carry this belief into adulthood. And this lack of confidence will hold them back. It will cost them time and money.

I'm passionate about CONSUMER MATH because it's something that EVERYONE needs on a daily basis. And I want you to feel EMPOWERED, not stressed-out at the thought of having to do math IRL. Because I KNOW you can handle it!

If you shudder at the thought of calculating a tip, or figuring how much mobile data you used this month, stick around. We have so much to talk about!

First lesson:

Are you okay with this much caffeine in one drink? (565 mg ÷ 100 mg/cup = more than 5 cups of coffee.)
Would you be okay with your kid drinking this?
I honestly don't care what other people eat - Me and my dark chocolate habit have no business judging anyone else's food choices!
But I worry when people don't do the math because they think they can't.

📆TGI almost F!

🍕🍪 🌮Hope your weekend plans include good food and important math ;)

What, exactly, does a Family Math Coach do?

👉 That's a good question!

🚫 I'm NOT a tutor.

🚫I can't step in at the last minute to help a student pass a test.

👩‍👧‍👦 🧓 My clients are primarily PARENTS and GRANDPARENTS who are looking for a lasting transformation around math for their whole family.

📆 We work together for 8-10 weeks to process beliefs, habits and negative experiences that have held them or their children back in the past.

❌ We debunk a lot of MATH MYTHS.

🏠 Then I teach them how to use this new awareness to "change the conversation" around math at their house. Permanently.

✅ It's like hitting a math "reset" button.

🧚‍♀️ Or having a math Fairy Godmother at your disposal.

✂️ Math finally apologizes 07/09/2023

This is so overdue!

I know you’ve waited a long time to hear these words.

Maybe you've been waiting since third grade when those horrible timed tests started.

Maybe you've only been waiting since college, when you had to take statistics.

Or just last year, when your smart kid hit middle school and it all fell apart.

In any case, it’s not you. It was never you. All this time, it's been how math was taught, NOT YOU that’s the problem.

So on behalf of math class, I apologize. I'm sorry it made you feel less than, or stupid, or super anxious. You deserve better!

We know now that everyone can learn math. There's no such thing as a math gene or a math person. Everyone can succeed in math!

Book a free call so I can help you discover the inner math person that’s been there all along!

But, your daughter’s backpack hasn’t been packed. You think your son is awake, but you haven't seen him. And you know breakfast is going to be one of those bars with way too much sugar.

Unfortunately, you’re not surprised. This is your “normal” start of a new school year.

But, what if you could change your “normal”?

What if your daughter had a system for getting her backpack ready to go the night before?

What if you and your son agreed on a morning routine?

What if a better breakfast happened each day?

It doesn’t have to be a fantasy. It can be a reality when you attend study skills tutor Jessyka Coulter’s FREE online event called Best Semester Ever: Fall 2023, featuring interviews with over 20 experts to help you and your entire family have a great school year.

How Louisiana's Lake Peigneur Became 200 Feet Deep in an Instant 08/05/2023

The other day, someone said to me, “I better double check my math. Don’t want to make a mistake in front of a math person!”

Generally, I like to normalize making mistakes in math, because it’s a normal part of the learning process. In fact, making mistakes is essential because it’s when your brain actually grows.

However, a very important next step is usually to go back and double check your work to make sure it’s correct when it matters, like on tests or in real life situations.

But if you or your child ever feel a little embarrassed by a math mistake you made, console yourself with this “it could have been worse” story!

How Louisiana's Lake Peigneur Became 200 Feet Deep in an Instant In this week's Maphead, Ken Jennings explores how one small error changed a Louisiana lake forever.

When your child struggles with math, and you've tried a few solutions that haven't worked, like hiring a tutor or asking the school for extra help, it's easy to feel hopeless and just give up.

But the truth is, there ARE solutions to problems that feel impossible.

I mean, who knew you could train rats to detect old landmines?

I feel strongly that the resources needed to solve any problem - even big problems - are already out there. Sometimes it just takes a little creativity and innovation to connect the dots!

Math really is for everyone!
And our world is pretty messed up right now.
We need more math people!
Frustrated with your March Madness Bracket? That's statistics and probability.
Southwest Airlines cancelling all those flights? That's graph theory.
There are so many myths out there about what math is. Math is not about being fast or memorizing a bunch of formulas, and there's no such thing as a "math gene."
Where is math showing up in your everyday life right now?

Tired of the daily math homework battles?

What would it be like if your child could finish their math homework on their own every night...before midnight, and without tears (theirs or yours)?!

I transform parents and kids who've struggled with math in the past into the confident and successful math people they were always meant to be.

Book a free, no obligation call to find out how I can help you!
